Haha I didn't even see that! Typical Japanese animation... really cute Posted Image

Hopefully others will buy it and try it out... I think this might just be a must-have while on accutane!

I agree! More people need to try this stuff! I almost bought it a month ago when I first saw someone mention it on here. Wish I had gotten it sooner! But, hey, I have it now! Posted Image

Oh, wow! Cool! Now I want some! Japanese women have enviable skin. I use Boscia, which is from Japan. It's sooooo nice! I love the Vital Daily moisturizer spf 15. It smells like light jasmine flowers.

They do have amazing skin! I used the Boscia Clear Complexion kit many years ago. It didn't help my acne, unfortunately. The products were really nice though! I love their Luminizing Black Mask.

I agree. It's gentle but really does nothing for acne. Benzoyl peroxide worked the best for me. Can I just say, that I feel amazing not using topicals anymore? I friggin' hated how much time and burning and grossness it was every day and night.

I dislike Boscia's cleansers because they are too drying, but I LOVE their silky moisturizers. Also didn't like the BB cream, but that could be because it didn't match my skin tone and has like NO coverage.

Benzoyl peroxide makes me super itchy! I couldn't stand it. Lol. I do love not having to use topicals though! I just use Neosporin or a salicylic acid spot treatment. That's about it!

I haven't tried their BB cream, or any BB cream for that matter. The idea of a BB cream sounds great, but I haven't found any that match my skin tone. I have such fair skin that everything is always too yellow for me. Boo! :(

But hey, after you're finished Accutane, you won't need much coverage! :D

Agree! I actually love mineral powders because they are so light on the skin and look really natural. No irritation either! Whenever I wear foundation, I can't stand the silicony feeling and can't wait to wash it off!!!

Ditto! I've been using Everyday Minerals for years. I like to keep a liquid foundation on hand for when I need extra coverage though. What kind of mineral powder do you use?

I alternate between this local brand called Twig: http://www.skinnypur...g-cosmetics.asp and Physician's Formula talc-free loose powder.

The Twig has good coverage, but is kind of shiny, so sometimes I like the Physician's Formula instead because it is more matte. Although, it has less coverage. Meh, it's okay. The main part about it is it never breaks me out.

What liquid foundation do you use sometimes? I tried Clinique acne solutions foundation which looked amazing! And then became really flaky and made my skin too dry. Gross. I don't think I like Clinique foundations very much since I used the Super Balanced liquid a few years ago and it made me look like a grease ball!

The only tinted moisturizer I've ever liked is Aveda spf 15 tinted moisturizer. It's beautiful!

I actually haven't found a liquid foundation that matches my skin really well yet. I do have the NARS Sheer Matte foundation though. It's okay, but it's a bit too yellow for me. I liked their tinted moisturizer, but the lightest shade was too dark. I can't remember, but I think it made me break out. That was a bummer because it made my skin look really good. The same goes for the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. Ugh.

I'm going to stick with my Everyday Minerals for now. Hopefully I won't be needing a liquid foundation after Accutane!

Do you guys find that mineral powders give enough coverage? I'd love to be able to simplify my routine. Also, BB creams sound awesome and I'm totally gonna check that out when I'm done accutane, but it doesn't seem like they'd do much for acne girls.

I use Clinique and pretty much always have. They're not amazing and certain foundations will leave you greasy, but they don't freak out my rosacea face and do cut the redness surprisingly well. I can't wait to switch it up though when I'm done with these silly pills!

I've only used Everyday Minerals and it does help with coverage. It doesn't cover everything though. I still need concealer on acne and some red marks. However, it does cover some of my red marks, so I ultimately use less concealer.

A BB cream would be a nice idea. The ingredients in them are supposed to be good for your skin, so it could help with acne. Although, I think they're more like a tinted moisturizer, so they probably wouldn't offer enough coverage, depending on how your acne is.

It'll definitely be nice to try new products (or less products, actually) when we have clear skin!

Huh, thanks! Good to know. I'll give it a shot one of these days. It has been so humid here that my face is melting by the time I make it out of the metro and a face caked on with makeup only makes it feel yuckier.

It'll definitely be good to try if you're looking for something more lightweight. Hope you find one you like!

Day 11
It bugs me that my face still hasn't dried out yet. Come on, Accutane! Do something! I'm impatient. Posted Image

My lips were pretty dry today. They aren't cracked or bleeding, which is definitely a good thing. I'm sure it helps that I obsessively reapply my Jack Black lip balm and Aquaphor during the day.

Since it's a holiday weekend for those of us in the States and it'll be sunny and hot... That means pool time and cookouts! I hope I don't get sunburned. I'll definitely be slathering on the SPF!

Don't sweat it about your face not drying out, mine didn't dry out until 23 days in! Crazyy. It's day 38 WOOHOO and the dryness isn't crazy bad, but when I have a simple scratch all these flakes of skin come off.. sorry TMI lol, but just letting you it'll kick in! Just give it time! And if you are moisturizing even though you're not dry, you may not even notice if you're dry because of the moisturizer haha.

Hi Rachel! I'm on day 27 and also 40mg and my face took a while to dry out too. I can now go all day with makeup on (foundation and powder) and not blot my face once! It's amazing. I used to blot my face a billion times a day, I could have owned the blotting paper company and if I didn't blot my face would look wet - gross! I have to say it's been the best part so far. Now if I could just get rid of all these spots! My lips have dried out but not bad at all, I just have to keep balm on them at all times but no cracking and bleeding which is great. I think it may be because we're on the 40mg. My derm did tell me that as the medicine builds up in my system my skin will get drier and clear up more and more. I was worried the 40mg wasn't strong enough but she said I was doing good and I'm going to do the second month on 40mg too.

I use Clinique stay true foundation and the Bare Minerals on top of that but I've been looking for a new mineral makeup that isn't so expensive and doesn't have this one chemical that's in Bare Minerals (I can't remember the name). I came across the Everyday Minerals when doing some research but didn't order it but you say you love it so I may give it a try. I'm not sure where they carry it or if you can only order it online. I didn't order it because I couldn't decide what color but I think you can order samples of it. Any advice for me?

I hear ya on feeling impatient! I have to keep telling myself that a medicine you take for 4 to 6 months or longer works slowly but I still feel super impatient. I want to see clearing like Gina is!! :)

Day 12
Nothing new really. A whitehead popped up on my cheek overnight. Fortunately, it's already healing, so hopefully it'll be gone soon!

I'm actually not moisturizing at night since I'm not dry yet. I didn't moisturize at night before Accutane either. Just in the morning. I'm like you... Most stuff makes me break out, so I'm always hesitant to put new products on my face! Especially moisturizer.

Thanks! I think I've just read so many logs where people are dry by now, but I have to remember everyone is different. I'm just impatient!

That's great you don't have to blot constantly now though. That must be so exciting for you! Lol. I've never had really oily skin. My chin would get a little bit of oil during the day, but that's it. I kind of figured I might dry out quicker since my skin isn't oily, but I guess not.

Yeah, Bare Minerals has bismuth oxychloride. I've had mostly good luck with Everyday Minerals. I use the semi-matte foundation. I don't remember how my skin reacted to the Original Glo foundation, but the Intensive made me break out. Not sure if the formula for that one has changed though. Unfortunately, you can only get Everyday Minerals online. But yes, you can get free samples. You just have to pay the shipping. I haven't gotten free samples in years, but the shipping used to just be about $3. Figure out your skin's undertones if you don't already know. That will make it much easier to find your shade. You definitely want to try a few shades to find the right one and you might want to try the different formulas to see which works best for you.

Don't worry! You'll be seeing clearing like Gina's soon! Just a little longer!

Don't worry! You'll be seeing clearing like Gina's soon! Just a little longer!

Thanks for the info! I'm going to try it for sure. I would have thought you'd dry out faster too since you're skin wasn't as oily but this medicine is so weird. You said your new zit was healing quickly but mine seem to take forever to go away. Maybe cuz they are cysts so they're deeper? I am feeling super impatient too - I'm starting to feel like this cluster of about 6 cysts on the left side of my chin is going to be there forever. Sigh. I have to keep reminding myself that this medicine can work slowly on some people and I guess I happen to be one of them. I always tell my kids, "Patience is a virture", I guess I need to take my own advice. :)

We need Gina to send out her accutane good mojo thoughts! Ha,ha!

Day 11
It bugs me that my face still hasn't dried out yet.

Posted Image

Hi Stacey! Cool, thanks for revealing your foundation suggestions! You will see crazy clearing soon! If it makes you feel better, one of the bad cysts I had popped because it refilled with pus. Posted Image It's right in the middle of my cheek. I've also had some new ones surface in my problem area (left cheek). It's not horribly noticeable, but my cheeks are really itchy and dry. It's a horrible feeling. You're also lucky that your lips haven't been too dried out. My lips are dry, but it's the entire skin around my mouth (upper lip area and lower lip area) that is FLAKING like a monster, especially during/after eating! SO EMBARRASSING. Worst part is I don't realize it cause I can't see it, and then after I eat, I saw myself in the mirror and was like wtf? Why didn't anyone say anything?

Anyone else experience this? Maybe I'm just weird and a scaly snake! I have to moisturize around my mouth like 8 times a day.

You are so funny, your posts always make me smile. :) I have also noticed the upper and lower lip area around my lips to be more dry than my actual lips and I know what you mean about feeling it after you eat, I notice that too and always have to put stuff on when I'm done. But I don't have to moisturize constantly yet which is nice. I have a hard time not peeling my lips when they get a little bad but I am really trying hard to refrain because lips are so sensitive and the last thing I need is bleeding lips to go with my bleeding chin. I swear my face bleeds so much it's going to cause me to be anemic, haha!

I HATE when my cysts fill with pus and I have to drain them or they peel and drain themselves. It is awful and I always know that means I will have a horrible wound to deal with for a month. I am constantly "talking" to them when they come up and telling them to just stay under the surface and go away nicely. Acne makes me koo-koo.

We're going to a memorial day bbq tonight and I will spend the evening hoping my wound doesn't crack open - ugh! Gonna have a glass of wine for sure!
