i had really nice skin about a year ago. but being insecure about the couple of acne spots i had (stupid i know), i went to the derm and she prescribed me retin-a micro.

i followed the direction to a T and it cleared stuff a tiny bit. (i did not experience dryness or an IB!)

but in january (about a year of using it) i started breaking out a tiny bit, and stopped using the retin-a to see what'd it be like without it.

IM EXPERIENCING THE WORST BREAKOUT OF MY LIFE.

Since Jan. I've had SO MUCH ACNE.

clogged pores on my forehead, acne in my hairline, acne all in my t-zone, tons on my cheeks and chin, little bumps EVERYWHERE. lots of PIH

so should i start using retin-a micro again to clear this up? or just forget about it?

:(

just realized i spelled disaster wrong! lol Posted Image

heyy,

I'm probably not the best person to give u advice since i stopped using it after 1-2weeks, because it got my acne a lot worse.
I know that there will be an initial breakout, but I couldn't stand getting acne at places where I dun usually get.
Your tolerance for 4 months is really admirable. But have you thought that it might not suitable for our body?

Well there could be other factors playing in this. Were you using any treatments, medicated cleansers or things of that nature when you had minor acne? Are you still using these products? Has your diet, exercise, sleeping habits changed? Any other things you're concerned about? Also was the retin-a cream or gel? The cream has isopropyl myristate and isopropyl myristate is very comedogenic. Making it worsen acne than help it. If you can answer these questions I should be able to help you further.

You do need to manually exfoliate your skin a few times a week. Retin-A will thin the skin and kind of do it for you and skin will flake off...if you stop using Retin-A you will be more prone to clogs as the layers of your skin thicken back up.
