I started accutane a week ago and I must admit I was hesitant to begin using this medication. I enjoy my beer about twice a week (sometimes more), but after trying everything for moderate acne, I decided it was time to try accutane. I've been dealing with acne for 14 years and I turn 30 at the end of the year.

I'm taking 40mg a day and I don't know if I'm going through the initial breakout because I was having a break out at the time i began using this medication. So far, the only side effects I've experienced are my lips feel like they are burning, but it's not too bad.

I have oily skin and I was wondering if someone could help me out. Should I continue using the acne.org regimen (facial cleanser) or something else while taking accutane? Any recommendations about moisturizer ? I've always like the facial cleanser but lately it seems to be drying my face out more than usual.

Anyway its great to see that I'm not the only one going through this but it sure seems like it out there. I wish we didn't have to but thats life so Ill deal with it. Feel free to drop a word of encouragement

I stopped application of anything but water and moisturizer to my face when I started Accutane. I just dab my face with a soaked washcloth in the morning (in shower) and at night (at the sink). Afterward, I apply Cerave moisturizing cream. I'm on day 61 and this appears to be working well for me, haven't had a new acne spot for about 10 days.

Best of luck on your course!
