Hi! my name is stephanie i'm turning 20 next month and suffer from mild-moderate acne (1-5 pimples all the time) and only on my forehead and around my mouth. I don't remember the last time i had a completely clear face :( Ive been on the regimen for almost a month now, and i know its time that i ramp up the dosage of BP. right now i only use i would say 1 full pump once a day (mostly at nights depending on my work schedule). I noticed that my face, minus the extreme dryness ,started to clear up , especially on my fore head. Just a few days ago though i broke out bad again! not sure why :( I know my time of the month is coming soon but that seems a little extreme to me.

So i would really like to start using the treatment twice a day but my only problem is i work mostly in the mornings (7am-3pm) and after i use the moisturizer + jojoba oil it leaves my face looking greasy and oily for a good hour and its obviously impossible to use makeup. and although it might sounds stupid to some of you there is no way i can go to work without makeup.

So my question is, does anyone know a way for me to be able to do the regimen in the morning and still be able to use makeup 10-15 min after applying the moisturizer? Would you recommend maybe not using the jojoba oil in the morning and only at night? or should i switch up moisturizer, one that my skin can absorb faster? If so which do you recommend?

I would really appreciate any help i can get as i need to start using it twice a day now! Ps the flakiness and dryness has definitively subsided since the first few weeks i started so thank goodness for that!

Hi Stephanie,
I use makeup everyday without issues. My advice is to take enough time to make sure you massage the moisturizer into your skin well. Make sure it has absorbed properly, then apply your makeup. Some foundations work better than others over topical acne meds, so I'll give you our makeup advice.

For shine, try blotting it off before you put on your makeup, and during the day if you need to. I also use pressed powder to set my makeup. My favorite powder is Cover Girl Simply Powder.

Hope that helps!

Hey Stephanie!

I just started the regimen a week ago and was worried before I started that I wouldn't be able to wear makeup. That was just not an option especially for work! I continued to wear my same liquid foundation that I wore prior to starting the regimen and found that it actually looks BETTER on my skin! Weird right?! I did however go and buy some new powder, blush, and bronzer as I learned to look for ones without talc and bismuth oxychloride (tends to be an itching agent). Here is what I do in the morning and products I use:

-wash my face in the shower with 1 pump of Dan's cleanser (AFTER I wash my body and hair- so cleansing my face is the very last thing I do before I get out of the shower)
-wait about 10 minutes
-apply Dan's BP treatment (just started a week ago so still only using a pea size for my whole face)
-wait 10 minutes
-apply 1 and 1/2 pumps of Dan's moisturizer (NO jojoba oil added)
-wait 10-15 minutes
-makeup time!

(at night I do the same process except I use the jojoba oil to remove all my makeup first)
.....

First, i pour a dime size amount of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation onto the back of my hand. Then, using the E.L.F brand (Eyes Lips Face) foundation brush (from target for $1!), apply about 1/4 of the foundation to one side of your face (not including forehead or nose). I usually just dot on a few spots then begin lightly stippling it around and mixing it all together to cover. This foundation dries rather quickly so do not let the spots sit on for too long! Make sure you are continuously moving the makeup around until blended completely. After you are done with one side, move other doing the same exact thing. Next, move on to chin then eye lids up to brow, then nose and finally forehead. All areas following the same procedure. Foundation DONE!

Next up...powders. For face powder, blush, and bronzer I use Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Flawless Airbrushing Kit (the kit contains all three things!) I got the Light Skin kit even though my skin is definitely not super fair or anything. I would just rather have my powder a little bit too light rather than too dark and unnatural! I got this kit from Wal Mart for $19.99! I absolutely love this stuff..makes my skin look so smooth! And it doesn't contain talc or that bismuth oxychloride that a lot of bronzers have.

After I have my base all set then I just do a little charcoal eyeliner on my top lids and some black mascara!

If you do decide to go ahead and get the Estee Lauder foundation I highly recommend going to the department store (got mine at Boston Store) and have the lady working at the counter help you to find your exact shade. I just went after cleansing and moisturizing and had her do all my makeup for me to make sure I liked it. I would tell her to be very gentle due to the products you are currently using. She found my EXACT shade and it literally blends perfectly with my skin color.

I was apprehensive at first as I didn't want to spend that much on a foundation but realized that this is makeup that you use everyday and everyone sees so I should probably stop settling for drugstore brands that are never exactly the right shade or right consistency. Nothing has ever covered my scars and redness like this foundation does! And you can really make it as sheer as you want depending how much you put on. Just play around with it and find out what is best for you.

I know Dan recommends using your fingertips but honestly it just looked gross on my skin and didn't cover well. The makeup brush gets every little spot on your face! Just be sure to rinse off your brush well after every application and wash it with baby shampoo about once per week.

Okay sorry I've been rambling! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Good luck :-)
Aly

I agree with Brandy, make sure the moisturiser has completely absorbed before applying your makeup, if you apply it straight away it can mix in with your moisturiser and won't look right. I only use jojoba oil at night, my skin looks too oily if I do it before work. I also clean my makeup brushes about once a week.

Completely agree with MissAly. Using a foundation brush and 'stippling' the foundation onto your skin really makes a difference in appearance. Using the regimen and then applying foundation using my fingers just didnt work for me and left my foundation looking splodgy (now an official word). I would reduce the Jojoba oil in the morning though as it causes the foundation to slide off your face after a while, unless you use the Estee Lauder Double Wear (as mentioned above), but personally I find that foundation to be a little too thick for me (but I am older than you young things).
