Hi folks!

A quick survey:

1. How often do you eat foods that contain large amounts of carbohydrate such as candy/confectionery, soft drinks, fruit, fruit juice, rice/pasta/bread/grains, breakfast cereal, etc?

2. How often do you eat dairy or dairy derived foods like milk, cheese, whey protein, etc?

3. How often do you work out at the gym? (resistance training)

I can answer yes in a big way to all 3 questions: I did all of those things for many years. From the stuff I've read there is a correlation between those activities and oily skin.

It would be interesting to see if the folks on this forum do the same!

1. I eat pasta a lot. I eat bread a lot, I eat fruit a lot. I don't have cereal, fruit juice, or soft drinks.
2. Never have milk, cheese, whey protein - at least for the last 3 weeks.
3. I generally aim to work out at the gum 5 days a week. Sometimes its only 4.

I have very oily skin.

When I did all three my skin was really really oily. I love pasta and cheese and ate those foods daily. I do marathons and am very physically active. Several years ago I got fed up with my skin...too old to still be suffering from cystic acne. So I wholeheartedly started to follow my derm's prescribed treatment and did allergy testing.

Now I am on a strict allergy diet where I must avoid gluten, dairy and sugary foods (and more...). I still train for marathons. However by following the treatment regime listed below my skin is much less oily. I think the oiliness was due to inflammation from acne and foods I was allergic to.

I can answer yes to all 3. I eat consume lots of carbs and dairy because I lift weights 4 times a week and am bulking up. I do have oily skin but my acne has cleared up. Unfortunately, I can't give up any of the 3 because working out is very important to me, even more so than getting rid of my facial oiliness.
