I'm about 16 and really want to try fasting. I'm thinking about trying a 2 day juice fast just to start out small.
So my question is that I'm just wondering if it's safe for a teenager my age to do a juice fast? I'm about 5'10 and 150 pounds if your wondering ~ thanks!

Yes it's usually safe if you're healthy. I was 17 when I did a 1 week fast, no food. Only apple juice + water.

I`m sure it won`t hurt you, but fasts aren`t really healthy period. I wouldn`t worry about it though. If its something you want to do, go for it.

Don't do it, as it is most likely not going to help but make you weak. Do sports instead and enjoy yourself.

Yes, it's healthy for anyone. Especially a juice fast.

A short term fast is absolutely fine, and emerging research indicates that it's pretty darn healthy. With just a 24 hour fast, you'll get a host of benefits, and it's unlikely that you'll lose much if any muscle mass if your other meals are nutritious, proper amounts of protein, etc. We're talking lowered insulin levels & higher sensitivity, increased growth hormone, increased autophagy (body clean up basically, especially in the brain), increased lifespan, increased BDNF, increased ketone production, and much more. If it's something we evolved doing ( eating/not eating certain foods, being outdoors in the sun, sleeping in darkness, socializing, sex, fasting, exercising, etc), then you can bet that there's a host of benefits to doing it. Doing all of these things as much as you can greatly boosts health and quality of life.
