Hi I'm new here, my name is Molly, just at the beginning of this year I was diagnosed with Rosacea, I had been experiencing flakiness which progressed to redness and appearance of veins and pustules. It occurs on and around my nose, I usually get pustules along the sides of my nose with redness, however when my face is irritated my whole nose will become red. I am on a gluten and dairy free diet however my mum cannot afford much of the gluten free products and has things in the cupboards such as easy Mac pasta which I have to avoid temptation to eat.. Lol, and she is like it won't kill you, when my sister asks should I put cheese in the salad, Molly shouldn't eat it. So I can't always not eat gluten or dairy, plus fruits and veggies are so expensive for my mum so if she bus some and they run out she can't afford more until next pay day. I am using the metro cream, and have been on antiobotics to get the pustules under control. My doctor is going to prescribe me doxycycline. I also have Aspergers, on the spectrum, above Autism, a anxiety disorder and a very low self esteem, so with acne and rosacea I find it hard to be comfortable with my appearance and I am really sure I am not the only one here, sadly. I would like to know would doxycycline help to reduce the redness of rosacea? As all the myro cream seems to be doing is preventing pustules, it doesn't really help the redness. Thanks, Molly
Metro cream*

Do you wear SPF when your outdoors? I think the sun can aggravate rosacea. I don't know a whole lot about rosacea, but the cream probably takes a bit to work.

Hey Molly,
I'm on a gluten free diet too. I avoid most dairy, but still eat plenty of chocolate
In October 2011 I began using Finacea (azelaic acid) that my derm prescribed. I'm allergic to salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and many antibiotics so my acne was very difficult to manage. But I started using Finacea, and about 3 months later I had no more pimples. Even the scars, red marks, discoloration, redness, etc went away. My skin was up and down a little bit because I didn't use it for a few weeks then I got lazy and started eating more dairy, but overall my skin is glowing and pimple-free. Finacea is a very expensive medication (at least in the States) but it usually lasts me 2.5-3 months and it has been worth EVERY penny. It was worth searching high and low for something that would work.
So, I hope that you could look into this or ask your doctor about it because Finacea is mainly prescribed for rosacea. I don't have rosacea but had mild acne. I sooo wish I had got it sooner! I wish you the best of luck girl!

I was recently diagnosed with rosacea in August of last year. It runs in my family and my dad has severe acne and rosacea. Being a routine sun bather in past years, I knew it was just a matter of time before it came up. My biggest issue was the burning sensation that came when I got hot, ate something spicy or just ate anything, and when I got upset. I started using Aczone for my redness and it does wonders for me. It can be very embarrassing when you have a flare up and want nothing short of covering your face with a brown bag! I noticed, like metrogel, that it didn't do anything for my acne or pustules, so I started using Clindagel at night because I am also highly allergic to benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid (horrible, painful, flare ups). I also take nicotinamide oral vitamin which was recommended to me by my dermatologist because it is clinically proven to reduce acne and rosacea symptoms. I also use Cerave facial cleaner that contains nicotinamides etc which REALLY help with the redness. Unfortunately, if you are like me, most over the counter products cause awful flare ups. Prescription medication can be expensive without insurance, but for the emotional security and self esteem boost, it's worth it to me.
I hope this helps and good luck to you.
