scarred4life?: I work in a large office building with hundreds of people. I got the subcision done on a Friday afternoon and told my boss that I'd be working from home the following Monday so I had 3 full days to "recover" from it. However, my face was pretty swollen and bruised as you can see from the pics. When I went back to work I put on my Jane Iredale makeup (loose mineral makeup) and no one looked at me funny at all. In your case I would see if I could either:
a) work from home for a few days
or
B) stay home for a few days

Just take it as sick time, they don't need the details.

I don't think you should feel ashamed about what you are having done and why you are having it done. It's not our faults that we had bad acne and that we are prone to scarring. It's not something we should feel ashamed of, though I know we all do from time to time. I actually told most people I was having a procedure done to my face and left it at that. No one was nosey and asked what or why - I figured they probably knew why but who knows.

I really hope it works out for you!!!

LAET: Not sure if I am seeing improvement or not. I still think it's too soon to tell. The best thing is to view the photos.

I didn't know you were still posting photos. It looks like the swelling has subsided some, but I'd say there still is some noticeable improvement overall.

Hey, did your doc mention if it would be helpful to take a bunch of vit c, zinc or other supplements to boost collagen while the skin is healing? I wonder if that would make a difference?

Yes - still posting photos every now and then. I think the swelling/bruising is pretty much gone at this point.

My Dr. didn't mention if it would be helpful to take any vitamins or supplements. I have been taking antioxidants though just in case it might help. :P

ben - I didn't say nothing can get to the pits of acne scarring. If you don't know what subcision is you might want to go to a site such as yahoo.com and type "subcision" and then do a search on it. This way you can do some research if you want to understand exactly what it is.

You look great! Thank you for sharing you pics with us. I am a great believer in subcision. It's 3 months since my last treatment my scars have been improving all through this time. I hope you see continued results too!

To scarred for life: I was advised to take bromelain and arnica two weeks before and for two weeks after. I can't say that it made a great improvement although other people told me it worked for them. (I bruise really easily and stay bruised for ages). There's a website called something like "yes they are fake" and they detail a good brand of arnica (I couldn't get that in UK). I also used Jane Iredale powder

Still too early to tell because collagen takes a while to grow - I'll post another photo soon so that you can be the judge. :P

Updated the page today.

Updated the page today (3/30 - w/pics from Day 20).

Hey Tamara,

I just went back and took a sneak peek at your after photos. Your skin really looks much better! I'll bet with make up on it looks even more so. Are you pleased with the over all result and have people you know remarked at all?

Yes, I am pleased with the over all result.
Only one person has noticed a difference, but he knew I was having a procedure done before-hand.

Hi Tamara,
I just seen the last picture you posted and I wanted to comment that your results look fantastic. It seems with time, the skin makes continued progress. Thank you for posting your updated pictures. It brings a lot of hope!

Hey Tamara

Just looked at your day 20 photo - looking good girl!! From your own perspective, what % improvement do you feel you have so far?

I know it can take several months (like needling) to see the full results. Did your derm mention about you having a second treatment? I spoke to the sec of a plastic surgeon in London a few months back and she said that most people would have 2-3 sessions spread 1-2 months apart. Do you think you will do it again?

Thanks!
Not really sure how to measure % for something such as this, but I would think at least 30, maybe 40%.

My derm did not mention me having a second treatment, I mentioned it to him and he didn't disagree. I haven't had the N-Lite yet, so I am not sure if/when I will do subcision again, but it's possible that I might at some point in the future. I am actually planning on having the N-Lite done and it my scars have not improved to the degree I want I may opt for needling or another subcision -- we'll see.

Tamara,

I just wanted to add my positive energy to everyone else... You look great!

I just checked your most recent pictures and was truly amazed. (I like scrolling down fast & watching the changes in your skin morph from scarred to smooth) It's remarkable.

Please continue to post future results! They are VERY inspirational.

Thanks for everything.
