Is it OK to take Accutane if you are a Hepatitis B carrier?
I have very mild but persistent acne.

I hate to be a bother and be another one to ask you a question but I have been taking accutane for one month now and the other day I went back for a follow up to my derm.
I was taking 40mg once a day (I personally thought was pretty high but the derm insisted) for that first month (today is the last day). Anyway she said that she is going to raise it to 60mg a day for the next month and I had to take 2 20mg pills in the morning and 1 20mg pill in the evening. My question is why? Why would she raise the dosage? I mean i'm doing great with what I am on right now I mean I still have a few white heads that pop up here and there and a papule or two but compared to before it has been a big improvment. She also said that if I do ok with the 60mg for this next month that she is going to raise it to 80mg which scares me even more. Is this right? should I be worried? Thanks for your help.

80 mgs?!?! Whoaaa that is scarry, BUT, believe it or not..Short term HUGE doses are waaaaaaaay better than long term small doses. Let's logically think for a second, Tane is a drug that has a bewildering array of side effects, the quicker we get our intial breakout, then start the gland shrinking/ healing process, the better off we will be. The ONLY reason most ppl start off with 20, or 40 mgs to begin with is because after a month the dr. needs to make sure the drug hasn't pushed our tryglicerides out of wack, a very important liver fat. People that start off tane with 40mgs or more are more than likely 200LBS or more, because if they weigh all of that 20MGS couldnt do anything for them anyway. Therefore after your tests come back and they are normal the doctor will change ur dosage to what she think would be effective enough. Think about it, if you never had acne and were taking medication for a headache or something, 20 mgs would be cakewalk, it just would not be enough to simmer your nervous system...I hope I answered your questions/ concerns...take care my fellow "Tane"...beatzzz@msn.com

yea he's right above. i started with 40 mg, twice a day, so that would be 80mg a day, and i feel that the drug is working at an ok rate but not fast enough for me, i'm on day 5 and i hope when i come back to the derm to get my next batch, he checks my blood n sees that everything is fine i pray to GOD, then he'll maybe boost up my dosage to perhaps 100mg a day? hahaha sounds crazy no?

Md Student! You posted a very long time ago on the Roaccutane Action forum group supporting Accutane and criticising those who have suffered with side effects.

If you have help for those of us dealing with significant side effects also it would be most appreciated.

Is this article saying accutane won't work for me? I have whiteheads and blackheads but no cysts, would it still work?

I'm probably one of the few population that actually DO wanna go on accutane.
I have mild - moderate amonut of acne and red marks, but its alll around the mouth so it makes it look moderate borderline sever which is really frustrating. Do you think my doctor could put me on accutane because I'm only 14? Wyhen I went to him at first he said i can't take any pills yet , but to fight it from teh surface first. Should I bring up accutane with my doctor on my next visit? (3 weeks or so)
