Hello community!

I'm new here, joined about 5 minutes ago and I'm happy

that I found this website! Support and getting points of views on

various acne meds is huge for me.

I'm 27 years old and have been dealing with cystic ance on my back

since the age of 13. My face at that age was pretty bad too but now

my face is flawless, yet my back is killing me!

These things hurt so bad and I have literally tried EVERYTHING except

Accutane, which I am starting tomorrow, pending my bloodwork is ok!

Words can't describe how excited I am to take this medicine after seeing

how it has helped turn my step brothers skin basically back to baby skin!

He has far worse acne than I have but his skin is glowing now!

Some side effects he had were very blood shot eyes and VERY dry lips.

Other than that, no psyche effects at all.

The point of my post is to get various opinions on how this medicine works and how

fast it usually takes to help a patient.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to updating my progress after I start tomorrow with before, during and after pics!

Hey! I have been on acutane for about three months now!! If you have any questions feel free to ask! As for how fast it helps it really depends on the patient, some have severe side effects others not so much! One BIG tip i have is to not take any vitamins with VItamin A in it, the reason being is because Acutane has an extremely high amount of vitamin A in it as is, and you do have the possibility of feeling tired from it. Also get CeraVe cream, and get some Aquaphor chapstic, Drink tons of water!!!!! Also diet does help, one tip that my docter told me is to make sure to eat before you take your pills.

Yeah I heard about the Vitamin A and drinking lots of water. Also, I use Burt's Bees chapstic. Hopefully that'll be good enough.. I just hope it doesn't make my skil look all weird on my face because it's clear

good luck man. If you did not suffer any scarring from having cystic acne for that long... you are one lucky guy.

Well right now, I have mild scarring on my shoulder blades when I push my arms back but nothin too severe. I hope this doesn't make this worse. I don't have TONS of acne on my back, just mostly on my shoulders, upper arms and mid back. Pretty much spread out, but the ones I do have hurt like hell and are pretty deep from how it feels. Sometimes I have to rotate my arms or shoulders to make the pain stop. I have about 3/4 sleeves on both arms and these hurt FAR worse than tattoos! I've been reading the horror stories about Accutane but a shit ton of people tell me that it only happens to a very small percentage of people who take it. So I hope that's not me!

I tried burts Bee's and it didnt work, aquaphor really is the best, for the first two months my lips were so dry that the corners of my mouth was cracked, nothing helped, but then i found aquaphor, and it completley changed. Granted it is a bit more expensive, but it is definately worth it!! :)

Hey, money isn't an option when it comes to my health! I've been blessed with a great career and an amazing family and my wife is gonna help me get pics going of my start date (tomorrow) and my progress and after I get off. My goal is to be clear by summer time so I'm not terrified of hot weather because I don't wanna take my shirt off. I HATE THAT FEELING! I wanna go play in the pools and the beaches with my kids but this prevents me! I hope it helps!

How exciting. I was on accutane a few different times. Seems like it took around 3 months for my skin to start clearing..but I never had any worsening of the acne. It was like one day my oil just stopped and no more bumps were showing up. It was amazing to have non-oily skin and not having to have to wash my hair every day. Accutane is a miracle. Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your input! It's greatly appreciated! I have VERY oily skin. After a few hours of getting out of the shower and using a benzoyl perozide wash, I can run my finger across my face around my nose area and it'll be oily! And my hair too, always shiny no matter what. Especially if I wear a hat all day! Maybe my skin won't get too dried out since it's so oily already? Hope so! Thanks alot!
