Hi all, i am visiitng a naturopath on Tuesday and i am ready to take another step towards clear skin....hopefully. Topicals that i currently use are in my signature and well.....it's not going well so i am looking at other aspects. As for diet, here is what i eat:
Quinoa
Quinoa flakes
Chicken, turkey ground beef (once per week), pork (a few times per month)
Lots of Veggies - spinach, kale, brocolli, cauliflower, cabbage, avocadoes
Fruits - rasberries, apples (in moderation due to my prediabetes)
Lots of coconut and olive oil
Supplements that i take are also in my sig.
I have been gluten and dairy free for over a month and still i breakout everyday. Most of the supplements i have been taking almost a month and still.....breaking out everyday....even while on topicals
Not sure what else to do....hence why i am going to see a naturopath
Long story short -what does everyone use on their face. I'm sure the naturopath will reccomend something but i want to keep my options open.
What do you use to:
cleanse, moisturize, help active ance on your face
Any assistance would be helpful. My skin is VERY sensitive and my pores clog easily. I also am very oily.
Thanks!

Hi Sasch! Sorry to hear you're still breaking out everyday despite making a bunch of changes to your lifestyle
Things will get better, I wish you luck at the naturopath!
Have you ever heard of BeautiControl? I hadn't either until about 6 months ago when my yoga teacher mentioned she sells it and told me I should try it out. At the time I was breaking out horrifically due to quitting Proactiv. I told her "no, no, I'm using something different, and besides my skin is so acne prone nothing will help me but 3-step systems". I was trying out the Neutrogena 3 Step system and it totally screwed my skin up....made it dry and flaky and absolutely painful. I hated it. I ended up going on Doxycycline because I was breaking out ALL OVER my cheeks, which had never in my life happened. Anyway, during the Doxy all I used was Cetaphil and TTO. Once I was done with the antibiotics and my TTO ran out, I finally gave in and got what my yoga teacher had been recommending me.
SO, onto what I use: BeautiControl Facial Spa purifying facial gel, BeautiControl facial spa gentle exfoliant (the beads are jojoba beads and perfect for sensitive skin), BeautiControl facial spa regenerating tonic with AHA's and finally BeautiControl facial spa defend and restore moisture lotion with SPF 20. (Yes, I even use the day cream at night because I was too broke at the time to purchase the night cream haha).
On occasion I will replace the tonic (toner) with TTO and sometimes at night instead of the moisturizer I use Clindamycin which my derm prescribed for me when I went in for the Doxy. I also use a honey/turmeric mask about 3 times a week, which is fading my red marks leftover from my horrible cheek breakout.
The products I mentioned above are amazing for sensitive skin. BeautiControl is actually a pretty great company and bases their products off of botanical ingredients. I'm not going to go as far as to say its all natural or organic but it doesn't have anything like parabens or phalates or alcohol. Everything is dermatologist, sensitivity and allergy tested. The cleanser is also ophthalmologist tested. The moisturizer DOES NOT break me out, the cleanser is not drying, the exfoliant is so gentle I can use it everyday if I want and the toner doesn't sting. It's not perfect because I still break out but I've only been using it for two months...also, my diet has not been great lately, so I think that's having an affect.
This is super long and it kinda sounds like an ad, I know, but I hope it helps.

Have you tried dan's regimen? I was really skeptical of it but I think it's actually working now. Even if you didn't want to use the BP the cleanser is really gentle and nice and the lotion is as well. Jojoba oil has helped me a lot with my oily skin too which was surprising. Also for oiliness vitamin B5 does wonders. But just take one or two pills, none of that mega-dosing. Vitamin a too. Two other things I recommend are essential oils, lavender and tea tree oil. The lavender helps with healing and the inflammation and it is also antibacterial and the tea tree is anti bacteria and can help with swelling especially when used early on in the stage of one of those big bad ones. I think the oils smell really great too. I went gluten free as well but it took me almost 3 months to see any results from that. Your body just needs some time to regulate so have patience and faith! Don't give up because it's much better for you overall. one month is just not long enough, even with the supplements, but you will see progress! You're absolutely on the right track. The above post has some great advice too and it seems some of the ingredients are similar to what's in dan's products, but it's up to you which to try. The important thing is to not give up too early. Good luck and I am curious to know what the naturopath suggests too!

Thank you for responding! i will look into the products that you recommended. I tried the whole natural/organic skin care when i first started breaking out and it did nothing for me - but then again i had not adjusted my diet so maybe this time around i may see some improvement.

Thank you for the words of encouragement....i needed that. Patience is definitely NOT one of my strong suits and i know i need to work on that. I guess i was hoping to see some smidgen of improvement as some folks on this board say they notice dramatic results after 2 weeks of no dairy or a month of no gluten. Add to the fact that i am trying to gain muscle and i feel as if i cut out anymore foods out of my diet, i'll be an anorexic scarecrow with acne....not a pretty picture. I have not used Dan's regimen but i really am trying to give my face a break from harsh topicals especially since my current regimen has made my skin blotchy, oil, sensitive, broken out and dry. I have heard both positive and negative things about tea tree oil and joba oil so i will int both. I'll definitely be starting a log once a get a regimen from my naturopath so i'll pass on any information she gives me....if it ca help someone else, well it will be my pleasure.

I find topicals a nightmare. After years of trying all sorts of crap, i did about a year of just not washing my face. Sadly my problem of blackheads and whiteheads didnt go away with this method. However if your problem is more severe acne, it might be worth just leaving your face alone for awhile and seeing what happens. Sometimes these products that everybody tells you that you must have for clear skin just make things worse. Recently i ordered some paulas choice for my combination skin and the cleanser was leaving me with a rash on my forehead everytime i used it. Needless to say ive stopped using it now.
