Hi guys. I started the regimen in December 2010 and started clearing up right away. I was mostly clear for a whole year. I never worried about waking up with a new zit and now I have been breaking out like crazy. It started about two months ago and I don't get it. Nothing has changed diet or routine wise. Has this happened to anyone else?!?!

The same thing happened to me either. I was on the regimen but my acne returned after one year of clear skin, then the breakouts continued for the next ten months until I began using 2% salicylic acid gel. My skin got a lot better since I put on the salicylic acid gel. I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA gel, but there are other good 2% salicylic acid products out there.. so if BP is no longer working for you, try salicylic acid gel.

Oh wow I'm sorry that happened to you. I just can't believe after a year you broke out for ten months and probably would have continued to if you didn't add that product. It is just so frustrating. It's like the regimen has an expiration date. I don't know what to do. I have been researching options so I guess we will see

Hey Ashlynn... Is it possible that you need to adjust the amounts of BP you use? Perhaps upping your dosage again would help to control the breakouts... How about your stress levels and sleep patterns, has that changed in recent months? Sounds like you began breaking out again around the holiday season and that can definitely be stressful... Maybe if you tweaked your regimen (amounts of BP and/or moisturizer) it can correct the problem... Just a thought... Posted Image

BP has no known antibiotic resistance, so im not sure why you guys started breaking out. Have you been moisturizing enough? Maybe your skin got too dry after a long time and that caused the breakout. Maybe a product you are using changed its ingredients ( you didnt specify what you are using). Maybe your pillow sheets are being cleaned or dried with detergent/fabric softener that is breaking you out. There are a ton of things that could have subtly changed without you realizing.

I have my own theory why people break out after using BP for a while. I highly believe in wearing sunscreen every day if you use any product that makes your photosensitive. BP does this...even if you don't get straight up burnt your skin is still being damaged if its not protected. Dan says its okay not to wear SPF every day...but i highly disagree. Its possible that after a year of extra sun exposure, your skin has started to react in a negative way.

Point of the story: really take a look at things, even if you have to think outside of the box, and try to evaluate all aspects of your day and how things could affect your skin.

I also agree with the post above me...fyi
