Hey guys!

I have been on the DKR for about 3 months and i was 99% clear with the exception of one whitehead and PIH. Though I was clear, I didnt like the way my skin looked on BP, it looked dull and felt dry and looked older, and i have a pimple scab that wont recover because of the BP (im using tons of moisturizer and AHA btw), so i decided to wean off BP little by little. I started doing the Regimen only in the morning and at night, i would wash my face and apply AHA + moisturizer + spot treatment. THe first few days, it was all good. No new pimples, but now I'm into this for a week and i've developed three small pustules and two bigger papules :( but my skin texture and skin quality in general has improved (brighter, more elasticity, etc)

So I'm in a dilemma of whether I should continue this regimen or go back on the DKR. Do these effects (dull and dry skin) go away in time? Does my skin just need to adjust to the sudden cut in the amount of BP? Has anybody here succesfully weaned off the BP? I really dont want to use the regimen forever, coz eventhough its kept me clear, it definitely has negative side effects on MY skin.

Thank you for your help! :)

Hi Macy, its frustrating having clear skin but it being dull and lifeless so I understand why you would want to reduce the amount of BP you're using.

One thing is clear though, that you definitely arent ready to reduce your BP applications to just once per day because your skin is starting to break out again. My experience of successfully reducing the amount of BP was like this:

Applied it twice per day, but reduced it to one pump for a couple of weeks.
Then I changed that to once per day in the evening but upped it to 2 pumps plus using AHA for a couple of weeks.
Now I put it on most nights (unless I sleep over a friends house) and I vary it between 1 pump some nights and two pumps others. And then ocassionally when I'm not going out anywhere on the weekend, I apply BP twice a day for a couple of days (just to keep everything in check).

I've found that the above keeps me perfectly clear while giving my skin a chance to keep hydrated and glowing (especially using the AHA+). But the trick is to not reduce the BP so much that you start breaking out again so like you built up the BP slowly, reduce it slowly.

Good luck! Posted Image

I have been weening off bp for the past week. I've done the regimen for several months and am probably 95% clear, which is good enough for me based on how I use to be! But, I'm getting really tired of the dry, tight feeling skin. I'm not flaky anymore. That subsided around week 4-6, but my skin just always feels dry to the touch, no matter how much moisturizer I use, and when I use lots it just doesn't seem to absorb and it just sits on top and makes me oily looking/feeling.

Basically I started greatly reducing the amount of bp I use during the day. I use 3/4 of a fingers length of bp regularly (I don't do the regimen on my forehead since it doesn't really have acne problems) but I started using 1/4 fingers length in the morning, or basically just my finger tip. Probably equivalent to half a pump if using the bottle not the tube. At night I still do my regular amount. But I have not broken out yet, and my skin has been feeling better and is less dry and tight after just one week. Soon I hope to be able to just cleanse and moisturize in the mornings, then I will start reducing my bp at night, and hopefully after a slow weening process I will be off the regimen and clear!

My advice is just go very slow. Cut out a tiny bit of bp each day, and do that for a few weeks to ensure you stay clear, then you can do more. If you break out, it means your skin isn't ready to be off it, and you may need to do the regimen fully for a few more months then try again. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm going to start doing the regimen at night again, but only with half a pump specifically targeted to my problem areas (around the mouth/lower cheeks) and see how it goes from there. I have another question though, is it better to do the full regimen morning or night? I was thinking that at night, since your skin is repairing, as much BP wouldnt be as needed in comparison to when you're out during the day? Any thoughts on this?

:)

That's how I do it. Full regimen at night, and I just use a very small amount of bp on problem areas during the day. Staying clear so far after a week of this.

I do it at night when I have more time to do it properly.
