All: This is my first post and I stumbled across this site by doing research. For the better part of the last year, I have been getting cystic acne on my forehead and T zone. I am 42 year old, pretty fit male. I have had no changes to diet or lifestyle except my girlfriend. She is 30. The acne cysts themselves are very large and painful, very red and are filled with green pus that literally looks the color of phlgem when you have bronchitis. The come in strange spots too....like just above my hairline which is super weird to me. I mention my girlfriend because this has started since we have become intimate. We have a lot of sex (not bragging so please don't read it that way), and I am wondering if it could be my hormones causing the cysts. Never had this before, but never had a relationship with someone who is very compatible with me in this manner. I have been to doctor several times. They put me on minocylene and give me a topical clear medicine. They did a staph check too that came out clean. I am breaking out again today and we had a pretty wild romp over the weekend. I notice that when we are super sexually active, the breakouts happen shortly thereafter....I could really use some help and advice here becuase I look terrible, feel terrible, she feels terrible...she thinks it might be in reaction to her body fluids so we cut out that aspect, and I am still all jacked up looking...thanks in advance and I apologize for the somewhat adult content but felt it was pertinent.
Need Some Help Big Time....

If you are 100% dedicated to finding out if it really is a reaction to your "fun" then you would have to cut it out for a good 3 weeks. 2 weeks if you really can't hit 3. Although it would probably seem impossible. That is the best advice I can give you. Good luck!

i have read some posts on this site that some males stopped having sex/masturbating and their skin cleared up. They only have sex every 2 to 3 weeks to keep them clear. Go figure.

Some feel that sex/masturbation, particularly very often, causes breakouts. Personally, I don't notice any difference in my acne no matter how much sex I'm having or how much I'm masturbating. Sometimes I'll have sex 7+ times in a week, others I'll go a week without sex, and I see no difference. Only thing you can do is to stop having sex for 2-3 weeks and see if you clear up. And if you do, then you may just need to tone down the sex in the future. Unfortunate... But possible, as many people on here (mostly males) say they have experienced a huge relation between sex/masturbation and acne.

in my opinion it doesnt make a big enough difference to give up social intimacy (i dont think it makes a difference at all)

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. After a nice weekend, my skin has broken out again in very deep, painful cysts. I didn't even have these as a kid, nor at any time in the past with a woman. Is it possible, that I am "allergic" to her bodily fluids? I have never heard such a thing, but the doctors can't figure it out, it looks terrible, and is wicked painful. I am going to make another appointment. They may put me on that Accutane but I heard that is hardcore, but it's an option. This is probably my 6th time in the last year that this has happened. It takes about 8 weeks for it all to be unnoticeable...so pretty much I have suffered with this all the time. I can try not to have sex with her for a few weeks. She does drive me a little crazy so maybe it's stress...FML
