I used The Regimen for about 4-5 years with good results. I didnt have 100% clear skin but it was still a lot better than when I wasnt using it. Last spring I started getting very bad flaking skin around my mouth/chin area which caused my pores to clog thus resulting in more acne. This was the first time that had ever happened while on the regimen, which was very discouraging. This summer I started taking the birth control pill and decided to stop doing the regimen when I noticed that my back acne had cleared up with just the birth control pill. For a few months I could use whatever wash I wanted without breaking out and it was nice to be able to buy towels and sheets in other colors than white because I wasnt bleaching everything I touched!

Recently I have been having more acne sprout up around my chin area again. They were sometimes painful and so I decided to start the regimen again ONLY on my chin below my mouth. I did not apply it anywhere above my nostrils. I also took time to wash the upper part of my face separately from the lower part of my face. I also wash my hands between cleanser, BP and moisturizer to limit spreading the BP to other parts of my face. Even with these precautions I seem to have gotten some on my eyes because my eye lids are VERY red and itchy. One of my eyes is also so swollen that I cant open it all of the way, it looks like I have gotten into a fight. I have tried to start the regimen about 4 times in the last 2 months with the same results on my eyes. I really dont know what to do. I actually just ordered brand new supplies, they havent even been delivered yet and Im quitting. At this point I would rather have acne as opposed to swollen eyes.
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.

I had this problem too. In the first 2 weeks of starting the regimen, I don't know how I kept managing to do it, but I always got bp on my eyelids. I think it was while I was sleeping I would touch my face and then maybe rub my eyes, I'm not sure, but my eyelids were red raw and swollen. I tried putting jojoba on them too, but then the oil would just start to slide into my eyes making them sting. But everything about the first two weeks were hell, not just the swollen eyes, but I persevered and it all started to get better in week three.

I never want to experience the awfulness that was the first two weeks of the regimen again, but it does pass, and as soon as you have clear skin, all that suffering in the early weeks are worth it. Well it was to me anyway.

i agree, the flaking sucks but in the end its worth it. even though i stopped the regimen and havent had any problems, the regimen is actually what got me clear in the first place
