At my doctors. Through my research, especially what I just learned and have been learning the last week just ticks me off. Ok, my entire life I have had a problem with lactose intolerance. I always took pills to be able to digest milk/cheese.
Then, about a year after I started getting sypmtoms(4 1/2 yrs ago) I was diagnosed with IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I have had severe digestion problems. Then, about a year after my IBS diagnosis, I started getting my acne. Coincidence? I think not anymore!! For about 7years, I have been complaining to the doctors of fatigue and various other symptoms...at which case was basically just wrote off and nothing was ever done/tested. Then, here last winter I was diagnosed with excema. Before that, allergies to cats&dust(though this is a seperate topic I suppose) I almost went to the doctor to ask about/thinking I have psorasis also.
Through my researching, many of these things of mine all are symptoms of a food allergy/intolerance! Also, I just learned (though I do take what I learn on the web with a grain of salt), that 70% of people who are lactose intolerant are also gluten intolerant. I learned That the alveoli in the gut after years of damage become a slippery slope and lead to leaky gut! (I know some of you are way many moons past me on learning this and Im sure I sound like a babbling girl) I am like really upset that nobody has ever pointed out to me or tested me for any kind of food allergy, ect considering I tell all of my doctors all of my "diagnoses" and all these other symptoms of Im tired all the time anymore, ect. I even asked my derm last time if this could be related to dairy bc I was finally starting to suspect it and she just shrugged her shoulders. I really dont understand why..why things are not tested and things are covered up..as in each doctor treats each individual problem while I just sit at home and wilt away further and further and feel worse and worse with more and more digestion problems and more symptoms as the years pass on!! And maybe Im not allowed or supposed to bash my doctors, but they are my doctors!!
I actually quit the retin-a she gave me, bc I am a senstive person, and the last time I was there, I pointed out all these red weird bumps I was getting like from irritation? and all the redness..and so guess what I got prescribed Finacea..that cost me $171!! And whats that for? to cover up the damage of the retin-a? idk, bc I have taken a serious turn with my diet, and quit the retin-a and guess what??? The bumps went away(well are going away)!! She couldn't have told me that it was probably from the retin-a??? I am really angry that I am left to my own devices to cure myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What would happen if I never ended up researching myself? Just get worse and worse...ahhh with higher medical bills, eh? Oh and btw, i KNOW dairy is part of my problem, I already tested it.
The other sad part of what Im learning is all these foods I thought were "healthy" arent healthy! Whats even crazier is that I have changed my diet to a true healthy diet and right now my body or maybe my IBS is in shock from diet change to foods that everybody should be eating anyways!!
Im sorry this is long and really just a rant :/ But, really I am soooooo upset about this. I AM ordering a food allergy and sensitivity test (I believe Ig G and Ig E?) When I get these results, you can bet your butt and hopefully my acne completely clears, I will be seeing my derm one last time to tell her!!!! Idk care if it costs me a visit or not!
Cmn, dont others of you feel cheated when it was your diet and we put all this-that on our face ect ect bills ect ect??? This is our health were talking about!! Did anyone else suffer from IBS and other such diagnoses as well?
Im Really Really Upset Right Now!

Yeah, I guess I felt kind of cheated, but my doctor visits were always covered with medical insurance for low-income families. Taking my health in my own hands was never anything new but I definitely had to step up my game when learning about healing acne holistically with the internet alone guiding me.
Although I think the American medical system is atrocious for the most part, you should take advantage of having health care for diagnostic purposes. Get checked for food intolerances through your insurance if you can and get your minerals/hormones/blood tested. See if your insurance covers things like acupuncture/pressure and independent practitioners.
For your IBS look into mucilaginous plants (okra, aloe, chia seeds, cactus, etc.), colostrum (although it is dairy-derived it has a reputation for repairing gut lining), making bone broth from scratch (marrow, gelatin, and animal fats have lots of good things for the gut), and digestive enzymes. There are lots of hypo allergenic foods and you can go through an elimination/rotation diet or do the GAPS program to fix your sensitivities/intolerances (I plan to do this myself pretty soon, so do a couple others on this forum).
Take some deep breaths and review your options. It's not so bad.

Oh corgisoulpower, thanks SO much for the suggestions!! I dont know anything about GAPS or cactus food, ect lol but I am honestly soo elated you guys are so knowledgable to send me in the right direction on my search. I guess I always put tooo much faith in my doctors, which I will never do again. My digestion is at an all time low. Ive left work early many times in the last 6months. This is coming from a hard worker who NEVER left work early. My stomach and my face have just been a complete mess. I really hope that its possible to repair this damage in my stomach and my face. I really am just astounded at this health care. You guys are the best.

How old are you?
Cactus is kind of a weird example, haha. You can get it in mexican markets, sometimes it's sold in jars (although I'm not sure what it's preserved with). Makes a good addition to salsa.
Chia seeds are sold in the bulk bins of most healthfood stores, they create a jelly-like exterior when combined with a liquid. Okra is a really tasty vegetable that also forms a sort of gel when sliced, it's used in gumbo a lot but can also be used in stir fries or even salads (I really like the taste of it, and don't mind eating it raw). Aloe can be found in the form of a stalk but is also in juice form, 100% aloe vera gel or juice is what you'd want. Psyllium husk is also good for the gut, although I'm not sure if it's mucilaginous. It absorbs toxins and is a good source of fiber.
Make sure you're getting your omega 3's too! From pastured eggs (if tolerated), grass-fed meats, seafood, cod liver oil, etc.
GAPS is a program to heal sensitivities, intolerances, and food-relates imbalances in people. It's focused around healing the gut lining and reintroducing offending foods in small amounts. Probiotics, eggs, and animal products are important components for the introductory phase. If you do a search on this forum there should be a thread by moonbase about it with some videos of Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride, the founder, speaking on its behalf.

Thanks a millionnnn for the info. Like seriously, everything you have said I will find and get every last one! I have OCD lately with my diet/health/acne after learning things here and starting to piece together the puzzle of my health. I am 30 yo. I cant wait to figure it all out, clear my skin and my gut and then tell my doctor off bc I just think they had to know, they just want all my money Im thinking. I did know Okra..its in all honesty the ONE vegetable I never liked lol! I love alll other vegetables. But, I dont care.. I will eat it every single day!! As far as seafood, I have never like seafood (childhood horror of going fishing with the parents and watching my dad kill it..they told me I went crazyyy and never ate it again)..but I have been considering just inhaling it to get it down bc I am probaby low on the omega-3 considering I dont eat alot of eggs and still have to research to find the grass fed meat in my area. I know I saw a link for it and I think I wrote it down. Lately, I have been taking notes bc I realized sometimes its very hard to find the thread and the particular comment again. Honestly, I wonder about the meat I have always eaten bc it doesnt seem to digest well with me at all. Im guessing its the grain they are fed or something. Sadly though, nothing seems to digest well with me anymore except a salad. Thanks so much corgi. Do you have a corgi dog? They are so cute.

Yep I was sick for years horrific cystic acne, bowel problems, depression, the works. I spent thousands on doctors and years later found out that my body can't tolerate gluten at all. Wasn't mentioned to me by any of my 10+ doctors and "specialists"--not even once!
