So I just purchased AHA+ from DK. 3 months of DKR has cleared up a lot of my face, though I have been suffering from a lot of Flakeyness and Dry skin, in addition I have a lot of red marks from where my acne used to be. Currently My Regimen looks like this:

Morning
DKR Cleanser
Jojoba Oil Exfoliation
DKR BP
DKR Moisturizer

Night
DKR Cleanser
DKR BP
DKR Moisturizer

Personally I don't enjoy doing the Jojoba oil exfoliation in the mornings because I feel it leaves my skin yellowish, patchy and doesn't allow the BP to do as good a job, but if I don't my face will become very dry and flakey.

So My question is when should I use the AHA+ and how should I use it?

I think I would like to use it at night instead of moisturizer and if it helps clear a lot of my skin and reduce flakiness, then maybe I can eliminate the Jojoba and possibly the BP from my morning. Any Suggestions? WHat has worked for you guys? I am about 95% clear, but I feel the jojoba is limiting me from getting to 100%, I wake up and my skin is dry but looks better, then I do the morning regimen and I feel like my skin is back to the day before.

NOW! If you are 3 months into the regimen you are absolutely safe to incorporate AHA+. You will notice a huge difference in your skin after a couple of weeks of using it. I started applying every 3rd day in the evening over the top of the BP. And then I put a layer of Dan's moisturiser over the top. After a couple of weeks of this I increased to every 2 days, and then maybe a couple of weeks of that (hard to remember) I started using it every evening.

I now only use AHA+ each night instead of moisturiser (no longer need to put moisturiser over the top) and my skin is the most hydrated, plump and glowing it has ever been.

Use it, you wont regret it. Its a miracle cream!

I'm glad this question was asked. I have been on The Regimen for almost 6 weeks now and my skin is really looking good! I do have mad flakiness as well though and did start to use the AHA +. I used too much one night and my face was on fire, whoops! I washed it off within 2 hrs bc my mom said my face was bright red and it was. I was freaked out, but it did calm down and looks normal now. Clearly I need to use like a ver small amount right? How much should you use when you are new to AHA + ? I guess I put more on bc it felt like it was not enough...Stupid I know...I won't do that again!

Good luck kal22, sounds like you are doing great!
Thank you as always AyeAye!

Hey you're welcome LMH :)

Ah yes, the applying too much AHA+ mistake... ;) I think the same rules apply as working your way up to full application of BP - start slow.

I made the same mistake as you on my first night and also had to wash it off. I then reduced it to 1 cm (in a circle in my palm) and because it really wasnt enough to moisturise my skin, i put on moisturiser over the top (with some jojoba oil).

Now I wear it every night and its about a 2cm circle in my palm and I just wear it by itself over the BP. I can't lie though, it still stings/burns for a few minutes when I first apply it but I've grown to love the sensation.

Quick and quirky question, can you mix AHA= with jojoba oil? I have done this a few times simple because applying moisturiser on top after with jojba makes my skin feel all caked and horrible, don't like the feeling at all!

what do you think about using the AHA only over the b.p. No moisturizer other than that?

Using AHA over the top of BP without moisturiser is perfectly fine if you find it moisturising enough. Thats how I now use AHA, just by itself. But when I first used it, I had to wear moisturiser over the top or my skin was too dry in the morning.

Thanks so much for your input as always AyeAye! You are SO helpful and I know I am not the only one on this site that appreciates ya Posted Image I find I definitely need Dan's moisturizer on top of the AHA + right now. That was why I ended up using so much AHA + that one time, it just felt like it was not enough.
I am almost at six weeks though! Still pretty dry, but I definitely notice improvement in my skin!

One question, did you find that you needed to put sunblock on even if you were in the sun say 20min? I drive to and from school and do get sun exposure for about 20min on my way in, however by the time I get out it's like 8:30...I know in the summer no matter what I will apply sunblock. Just curious to what you thought.

Thanks again!!

Lauren

Hi im 14 weeks into the regimen and im pretty much clear. All i have now is red marks and still flaky skin. I do the jojoba oil exfoliation every 2 days or so to get rid of the flakes but they always come back. I want to start aha, how much aha should i use? A thin fingers length? You said 1cm then 2cm in your palm how much would that be? Thanks.

I pretty much wear sunblock on everyday, but I'm OLD so take all precaution i can to minimise sun damage on my face and getting more wrinkles. Plus I used to have a lot of pigmentation on my face from acne which is fading nicely now, so I don't want that to come back again. I would say 20 mins of morning sun should be ok, but a different story to midday sun.

Markronan, its hard for me to say using a fingers length scenario because i find it too runny to measure that way. How about we use nuts as a form of measurement? Yes lets! Posted Image When I first used AHA+ I used about a 3/4 of a hazelnut (or perhaps 1 and a 1/2 peanuts as another example) every 3 days. Now I use it every night (after building up over 5 weeks or so) and use around 1 and a half almonds or a brazil nut or 4 whole peanuts. I hope those measurements are easier to visualise.Posted Image

As for building up the use of AHA I started using it in week 4 when my skin still wasnt fully accustomed to the BP. As you are in week 14 you could probably start using every second day, and up to every day within a couple of weeks. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me as it pretty much got rid of the flaky skin within two weeks. I also used to do the Jojoba oil exfoliation method and had the same results as you - fine for a day but the flakes just came back

.

Hey AyeAye, thank you again for your help! I think I better start wearing sunblock regularly then. I leave for class around 1PM, so that is mid day. I guess I was worried that maybe the sunblock might cause me to breakout? Silly I know bc I am using what Dan recommended, the Oil of Olay for sensative skin. I ususally have very oily skin but since I've been on The Regimen it has been quite flaky and dry. Does that ever go away lol?
You seriously look like you are 19, 20. I am 30 lol. I was laid off from my job and am back in school changing careers.

Thanks as always!!

40 is not old. Honestly, I find "old" to be a state of mind. I have met people in their early 20's who are "old" lol. My grandmom is basically 98 and going strong. Old is just an adjective, nothing more. You look great ps Posted Image
