It's been a year today that I've been using Retin-a. I still have acne! I use it every night and I still get zits. the strange thing is, i don't remember getting the intial breakout or flakiness.
maybe i did and i forgot, but i can't recall anything.
right now my acne is worse than ever. how long should it have been for this stuff to work?

retin-a itself doesnt work too good by itself, in combination with other medications works better, differin works well with benzoyl peroxide and its similar than ratin-a, or with an antibiotics such as doxycycline, of course im strongly against any antibiotic to treat acne. Stop using it

I would have to disagree with the above post, because it worked really well for me without any other treatments - and my acne was pretty bad.
But he's right in the sense that it's a weaker retinoid. Talk to your derm about moving on to something like Tazaroc. It's also in the retinoid family, but it's stronger. You could even use it in combination with another non-retinoid cream (Aczone, Acanya, Finacea, etc.) for a better chance.
If you haven't seen results with Retin-A in 5 months, I wouldn't bother waiting any longer.
Good luck!

thanks for the responses. im not sure if getting a higher/stronger product is for me...the retin-a has made my skin sensitive and red + i dont think my acne is bad enough for strong products. i've been told on here it's light. so i wouldn't want to risk what i have now, for the fear of it getting worse. thanks though!
