Hi I finished Roaccutane over 12 months ago now however I have been left with dry lips ever since. It is no way as bad as when I was actually on Roaccutane as I had to apply lip balm every hour however I am finding my lips dry up several times throughout the day to the point it becomes painful and irritating.

Is there anything my doctor can prescribe to help with this?

Thanks in advance

gamma linolenic acid 480mg is good for all dry related things. Lip balm everyday will help too.

Hi thanks for the quick reply!

Do you mean to take gamma linolenic acid orally? Is this something that has to be prescribed by my doctor? I am in the UK by the way.

I apply lip balm a number of times throughout the day but whenever it ends up rubbing off my lips just shrivle up!

Thanks again

Get a really really good lip balm. I've tried so many different ones, but I've found my absolute favourite. I'm just over 12 months post accutane as well, and my lips are very prone to getting dry. I also usually apply lip balm quite a few times during the day and still wind up with dry patches. I recently (about a month ago) bought Wedderspoon brand "Manuka Kiss" lip balm and love it! I purchased it because it contains absolutely no chemicals, and I know manuka honey is amazing for you. At first it's dry in the tube, but it sort of melts into your lips. My lips have been in amazing condition since I bought this stuff. I only need to use it maybe two or three times a day now, whereas before I was using lip balm at least 10 times daily.

There are only 6 ingredients: manuka beeswax, shea butter, olive oil, cocoa butter, manuka honey, peppermint essential oil.

It's helped my lips return almost back to how they were before taking accutane.

I can only seem to find this included in Primrose Oil here in the UK, is it possible my doctor could prescribe it to me? It states that 280mg is present in Primrose Oil, which is under the amount you suggested.
