Here is my accutane history

1st time: 30mgs a day for 10 weeks. I had mild face acne and moderate - severe back acne. Worked like a charm, virtually acne free for 1.5years.

2nd time: 40mgs a day for 8 weeks. moderate facial acne, mostly around temples and jawline. Worked like a charm, virtually acne free for 2.5years.

3rd: 30mgs a day, 24 days and counting. moderate facial acne, all over my face for the first time in my life, very oily forehead, which has pretty well dried up with the accutane already.

I've done short stints with accutane because my skin was getting really dry and it was making too tired to focus on my studies in univeristy. My acne came back quickly about 4 months ago when I turned 24, first started took accutane when I was 19.
I am 145lbs, male.

I'm planning on 3 months of accutane at 30mg a day, then 10mg a day for 2 months hoping this finally rids me of acne for life. Does anyone else have a similar accutane history? what do you think of my accutane plan?

so far my oily forehead has dried up. I had a bad initial outbreak for the first time but it seems to be subsiding.

Thanks, I'll keep everyone updated!

Your planning your dosage yourself? Your dermatologist is allowing you to do that?

Sounds like your skin responds very well to acutane, its just your not taking enough, don't be sure that your 3rd course will be your last, as by the end of this third course your planning, you will be no where close to your true cumulative dose.

My derm listened to my suggestion for this dosage and thought it was a good plan too. He'll be monitoring me monthly and me tweaks will be made accordingly if necessary.

Thanks for your reply!

You might want to reconsider the dosage. The dosage has bigger effect than the length of the course i.e. the higher the dosage the more likely you are to be permanently cured.

Day 37

Acne around my temples and jawline has really subsided. A couple of new ones on my jaw line but they are small; certainly not cysts. Red marks are fading but still very noticable.
My nose only had blackheads which are 80% gone, cheeks are now clear too.

My forehead is the biggest problem. The oil is 90% gone since I've upped to 40mg a day around day 30. But I still have 4 or 5 active cysts and some red marks from healing pimples.

I've pretty well stopped going to the gym because my face was always worse the day after, has anyone else noticed the same thing? And yes, I always shower right after working out and dab the sweat away while at the gym.

Hopefully I continue to see improvement, I really want this initial outbreak on my forehead to be gone.
