Hi,

First I would just like to explain my story before I tell you what NEEDS to be done.

I know im knew to this website but acne for me is certainley not new. I'm almost 24 now and I started to develop acne around 14 and have had it consitantly for ten years. I've done everything for acne... two courses of six month accutane when i was 16 and 18. I've gone through lazer procedures, all types of chemical peels, and px topical one could think of, and about every antibiotic. I know some people say acne isn't a big deal... your parents for instance but the people that say this don't have acne. It's tough I know i've even cried about this. I use to never go out because i was embarrassed I was the only one of my friends who always had bad skin. I've lost a best friend who was on accutane and wouldn't give it the time to work so he blew his head off. (sorry if to much) I just want you all to know that I KNOW acne is serious when more severe and even if not severe it still screws with your head. If acne doesn't bother you then more power to you and you truly are a strong person.

I have just started this a few weeks ago and already have noticed a difference. Stick with it and don't CHEAT!

**DO NOT PICK AT YOUR FACE or even touch your face. So many germs are on your hands.. if you have an itch use the back of your hand. ONLY pop a zit if you are near something to clean it with and only pop IF ITS WHITE and protruding from your face. I use 70% isopropyl alcohol on a Qtip to clean it with after being popped.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT first of all. The skin is an organ the LARGEST organ so if you wouldn't smoke cigarettes because you don't want to harm your lungs then why would you eat garbage. Foods nowadays are all filled with preservatives that are toxic and one hundred percent not good for your skin. Now i know some people can eat trash all day and be just fine, but you know what not me. Things that bother my skin and may differ from yours include: Fast food, high sugar food, DAIRY!!, greasy food etc.. do not eat garbage that is the FIRST step. Some people say eating healthy is expensive... well you know what, what your diet consists of is the most important thing out there. IT IS the medicine of the future our food and water. Wouldn't you rather use your money on whats going to MAKE YOU LIVE rather than nice clothes a new car, diamonds whatever. What I now EAT:
***A lot of salad it doesn't have to be organic I know its expenisve. Fruits and vegtables all day. Beans which are also good and they fill you up. If your going to eat meat eat CHICKEN that is not breaked only grilled. OATMEAL is awesome and its cheap. Brown rice is always good. I eat at subway a lot they are very healthy. even CHIPOTLE but i get no sour cream or cheese and the brown rice
*^*SUPERFOODS!!! here are some: raw honey, goji berry, spirulina (great for protein), noni, acai, ginger, wheat grass, kelp, royal jelly. Some may effect your skin in a bad way but these foods ARE the true medicine of tomorrow. They help with depression, anger, acne, being tired... everything.

WATER WATER WATER... do not drink soda do not drink milk. If you want something flavored grab a propel I think there great and you can get the one with less sugar. As soon as you wake up drink 2 liters of water and throughout the day you should drink around 8 liters.

VITAMINS. Some doctors even dermatologists will say vitamins do nothing... to many of them can actually be bad for you WHICH IS BS. You know how many vitamin related deaths their are every year... around twenty. How many deaths from cigarettes, alcohol, EATING MCD! i just used them because its what everyone eats WAY to many. Now im not saying that go eat tons of vitamin a and e or whatever BE SMART about it. Some people take over 100,000 IU of vitamin A in a day this is not healthy if done for awhile. Instead take about 8000 iu along with other vitamins and minerals. What i take that has GREATLY helped my skin: *per day*
vitamin A 8000iu
Niacin anywhere from 250-1000mg
vitamin e 400mg
vitamin c- 3x a day and 1000mg each pill
fish oil- 1200mg a day
CALCIUM* now if you don't eat dairy which greatly bothers my skin be sure to take this
Magnesium 250 mg
Zinc- 50mg it will help with healing
Acai a great antioxidant
Vitamin D 2000-6000mg a day

** Very important YOU MUST realize what vitamins are water and fat soluble. FAT SOLUBLE vitamins can be toxic if you take to many such as vitamin A!. Most are water soluble and its extremely hard to over dose it has been done where around 300,000 mg of vitamin C has been givin to people. They do this much to CURE CANCER. WOW vitamins are really AWESOME for you. I know it can be pricey but check out walmart.. buy online their are great deals.

*I know most dermatologist will say no no no you need an antibiotic.. why? because either they want money OR they havn't been trained to know the practice of vitamins as medicine which nowadays NO doctors are trained about Diet and Vitamins for treatment. THe book explaining the benefits of vitamins and diet IS NOT even in the LARGEST medical library in the world! How crazy.

OUR bodies are a living organism treat them right. I know most people don't know why they have acne but im telling you do this. It will NOT HAPPEN overnight or even in a week or month. It takes MONTHS possibly a year for your body to remove all the toxins from the garbage food you have been eating.

WASHING your face. do this twice a day you must. If you don't like to shower twice then just wash your face at nighttime. Now... I did not start doing this till a month ago but get a ****battery powered face scrubber*****. I know some are expensive but their is the prox!!! made by olay which is only thirty dollars. As for facial cleaners I use CLEAR CELL salicylic gel cleanser. Use something that your skin gets along with and do not use a lot only a little is needed when using a brush and be sure to make circle motions on your face as your cleaning. Start out with hot water to open pores then when done use cold water to close them up. As for Topicals use something again that your skin has agreed with BUT also use a great moisturizer that is non comodegenic has antioxidants in it and make sure it says wont clog pores which non comodegenic means and if you can get one that has vitamin c in it. I only put on topicals at nighttime a little before i sleep. My topicals are also Clear cell and they are expensive yes but realize this: *****Out of your diet, water, vitamins I believe this is the least thing you need to worry about when wanting clean skin. ALWAYS wash twice daily. DO NOT overdry your skin that makes more acne because your face produces more oil to fix the dryness.

*Be sure to go to a dermatologist that actually cares and doesn't seem like they're always in a rush. Talk to them about your diet and if they say that doesn't matter or are short with you tell them you know what this isn't going to work and go somewhere else. WE are an organism OF COURSE what we ingest is the MOST IMPORTANT.

**Also I do isolaz treatments now every two-four weeks and will for a few more months. It is quite expensive but will go down in due time. I think it does help clean out pores and you may break out more at first but it is getting all that toxin to the surface so it can be removed. DIET is still MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. The person I GO TO is located in annapolis off of holiday court so if you would like a great person to help with your skin ask for Noel. She is very nice and willing to work with you and explain everything for you.

Please be free to add anything you think that helps and goodluck YOU CAN do this and having clear skin is AWESOME, mine is still not yet clear but its getting there Posted Image. DONT FORGET THE WATER!

This may not be the right place to post sorry... but i would just like everyone to see it. For the first time in ten years I feel great.

Diet is by far the biggest factor when it comes to acne. When you truly dedicate your willpower to not eating offending foods your skin will show the difference. If you really dedicate yourself to eating healthy antioxidant and anti inflammatory foods that makes a huge difference too! I think it all comes down to good digestion as well so taking fiber is key for myself. Vitamins help any nutritional deficiencies created by bad digestion which is good. Really glad that this is working for you, good job! The more I read on these boards I see that so many people clear themselves through diet and that it really is the answer. It can be tough at times but it is so well worth it.

Good post. The best way to treat is is not pharamceutcial drugs that just want your money, but the natural way. Indeed, most Americans are Mal-nutriated, heck a lot of people are Vitamin D deficient, and that's FREE! From the sun.

I have a similar regime, a little different, but it has made my moderate acne skin, to pretty much clear now.

There's a lot of very solid advice in your post, MrAcne. I've recently started doing many of those things myself, though perhaps not to the same degree. I've come to a great many realizations about acne, recently.

I went dairy free for a time, and while I can say that I now know that decreasing my dairy intake didn't fix my acne, I have found that increasing that intake again, among other things, lead to further outbreaks. Milk chocolate and extremely fatty and cheesy foods like pizza are absolutely connected to new pimples appearing.

Water, water is so important. I feel better, my skin is healthier, it's just an all around good thing. Two problems, though: 1) I despised water for the longest time, I'm someone who needs flavor to enjoy a beverage. Over time I've gotten used to it though, and now rather enjoy a refreshing glass of H2O. 2) I don't know about you fine folks, but I find it difficult to get the daily 8-9 glasses. You more or less have to keep hydrating constantly. It can be tricky.

I've reall started the head and shoulders shampoo method, which has zinc, and my skin looks better thannever. It's not perfect, but many of my blemishes have faded away, or minimized in size. I doubt that will do it by itself, but it's been a great help. Zinc really does seem to play a key role.

Scratching... That one is tough. It's easy enough to train yourself not to touch your skin, but whenever I feel a new breakout coming on, or an old one healing, I begin to itch. It's very difficult not to have it at at net point.

There's something I've heard said in the past regarding acne, and that's that for the majority it wasn't a problem until very recently. I never hear the elderly exposit over how they were pizza-faced teenagers living on the farm. They didn't seem to have those problems, on average. Which does suggest a major correlation between environment, and more specifically the way food is produced in the modern age.

However, that too is somewhat of a tricky issue. In today's world it's very difficult to not eat the fast food that surrounds us. When I was in Middle School it was all too common for kids to have nothing but a coke from the vending machine for lunch. It's very easy to succumb to the quick fix, rather than preparing a potentially time consuming/expensive healthy alternative. I still haven't mastered it.

alexisc, I'd be interested in hearing more about this leaky gut + diet philosophy. I mistreated my gut growing up,and now suffer a fair amount of gut-related issues. Which, in conjuction with my acne, could very well suggest a connection.
