I'm currently taking accutane but I'm concerned that because my acne is hormonal, it won't keep my skin clear after my course is over. Has anyone else had experience with this? I feel like a lot of the posts in the accutane forums are from people with very different acne from mine, and it worries me that I might be going through this difficult drug experience only to have it come back soon after since it's being caused by hormones. Please share with me if anyone has had any good results... or bad, too I guess

Hi, I believe my acne is due to hormones also but I’ve been on every antibiotic there is and tried numerous gels and cleaners but nothing work. My dermatologist finally suggested Accutane (Claravis) and I’m on day 13 and am taking 40mg two times a day. She told me if this doesn’t work nothing else will, so I’m hoping my goes away. Good luck on your journey.

Accutane will not help you if hormones are the cause of the problem. Believe me id know, I've been on tane 4 times and everytime the acne came back. Visit an endocrinologist and get hormonal testing done. I highly recommend spironolactone for hormonal acne. Definately give it a shot, don't waste your time with the whole accutane thing.

Accuatne for the most part will help in almost all types of acne to some degree - but for a large majority of people, acne will return. If your acne is indeed hormonal. I would recommend to let accutane do its thing (mask your acne - the symptom) but also take the time to investigate the hormonal factors. Someone recommended getting tested for hormones which is a good suggestion. Also, you might want to take the opportunity to clean up your diet if that is an issue for you:
more fruits
more veggies
less refined carbs/processed foods
good quality meats (grass fed, organic)
good quality grains if you eat them (brown rice, quinoa, oats)
good fats (olive oil, coconut oil)
Good Luck with everything
