In the summer of 2010, I went away from home for a week and forgot to pack a moisturizer. In that week I noticed that all of my pimples completely disappeared. Then when I came back home, they re-appeared again. I tried to think of what I did that was different, and alI I could think of was that I used a moisturizer.

So I changed moisturizer. Nothing happened, still got them the day or 2 days after applying moisturizer, and if I stopped using moisturizer, no new ones would appear.

In the last 12 months or so I experimented with about 4 or 5 moisturizers. Here's some I can remember.

Olay Beauty Fluid.
Olay Regenerist Night Cream - Only using at night.
Eucerin 5% Urea.
Skinfood Nourishing Moisturizer.
Cetaphil moisturzier (the really light one).

And finally at around about Summer time this year, I stopped using Moisturizers all together at around August, and by Christmas there wasn't a single blemish on my face. But my skin was dry in some places. I notice that where ever I locally would apply moisturizer, blocked pores or pimples would appear 2 days or so later.

Anyway it's not so bad in the summer, but now that it's winter I'm really starting to feel the effects of drying skin. And I'm not really sure what to do!?

I've tried mixing all of the above products with a little bit of Aloe Vera to make them even lighter. But to no avail. I also exfoliate 2 times a week gently.

Can anyone suggest something that I could do or use? I feel like I've tried a large range of moisturizer and I obviously have very sensitive skin.

Thank you in advance :))

I don't think the moisturizing is problem, it's the chemcals (probably parfumes) that irritate you. I've been advertising this on the whole forum :) Try almond, olive or jojoba oil!

Either you are applying too much moisturizer, or you've chosen the wrong products. DO NOT (!!!!!) use moisturizers in cream form, they clog pores. Try to find a gel type with 0 % oil. And don't use usual face moisturizers, try to find one especially for acne.

- Gel form
- 0 % oil
- Amount: size of a pea
- 2 times a day
- 3 min after drying your face with a towel
- LIGHTLY slap your face all over after applying the moisturizer (it helps the skin to absorb the moisturizer)

moisturizers are definately the problem! they suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
even though its winter time your face will get used to it fairly quickly just dont use any moisturizer for a week and i guarentee that your face will be ok from then on.
your skin naturally produces oils to moisturize the face NATURALLY
if its not working that means that you are using to harsh of a cleanser on your face to begin with meaning the cleanser is actually drying you out not the air around you
either that or you are washing too many times a day! i would wash twice a day no toners or moisturizer thats it and your skin should be fine by the end of the day. if you are already doing this and still having problems i suggest that you by a better cleanser because the one you could be using now is a ph range of atleast 8=alkalin soap.. not good for the acid mantle. good luck bro!

Thanks guys, the above poster raises some good points, and I will also give Jojoba Oil a try first, and if that doesn't work, look into finding some acne specific products!? Thanks :)

i use hibiclens. its not a cleanser made for the face although it is safe to use as long as you do not get it in your eyes mouth or nose. it completely destroys bacteria without irritation or dryness. it is also a ph of 5.5 or close to that. i dont use any toner or moisturizer and this has cleared my acne 92% in one week.

The best cream is no cream. I haven't put anything on my face and I rarely get any acne.
