Hi i'm new to this message board. Let me explain my acne situation:

*12 years old; few mild pimples and black--Went to dermatologist was prescribed Differin gel the lowest potent one there was. I used it for a few days didn't really know what I was doing the dermatologist wasn't too clear with explaining how to apply the gel (tiny tiny amount) i was basically spot treating and using way too much Differin. I was my face about once a day. Since I was misusing the product my face was starting to get really dry and the initial break out was too much for me so I gave up and continued my life.

*15 Years old; Dermatologist prescribes Retin-A. The situation with this product was very similar to the first and I gave up. A friend of mine who had extremely severe acne told me he was prescribed Accutane. I went to a new derm who was completely out of her mind and didn't know what she was doing and prescribed Accutane for my MILD acne! This stuff ruined my life and high school wrestling career when I was taking it. It did clear my skin a bit but it made my face extremely dry, chapped lips, had less energy, all around felt like crap. I took the regimin for about 2 months then quit because I couldn't handle the side effects.

Here we are now, I'm 18 years old I still have a full tube of differin and a full tube of Retin A, I also have Benzaclen. I need advice.

Please take a look at these pictures, help me diagnose what type of acne I do have, Mild, moderate, etc. I am ready to commit to getting my face completely clear. I can only pray that someone will take their time and help me create a daily regimin for curing this acne. What face wash should I use, how many times a day, which medication should I apply to my face, etc.

I hope someone out there will have the heart to help me address this problem. It's not effecting my life terribly I still have a lot of friends and a girl friend, it just bothers me and I want to better myself.

Here are some facial pictures, I cropped and blurred areas to conceal my identity as this is a bit embarrassing.

*~~~~~~NOTE i have been applying small amounts of Differin for the past few days my acne isn't always as bad as in these pictures.

hey man luckily your acne isnt too bad at all. id say on the mild side. your did not need to go on accutane.. but whats done is done. i would say just get a good cleanser that you are comfortable with but makes sure it is ph balance to 4.5-6 PH alot of cleanser on the acne aisle arer alaklin balacaned which is bad for the skin. alkalin is a ph of above 7 good luck man! acne should be gone in no time for you its not too bad at all.

If those tubes are 3+ years old they might be expired. I had some medication from a long time ago and I looked on the bottle and it was no good. If a medication is expired then it will do no good for you.
