Hey people

I've been on low dose tane for a while now with differin and while my acne has got a lot better my face still looks like crap. Ive done many, many hours of research on all this but i feel like no one has my particular problem so feel like im getting nowhere sometimes.

I have many small ice pick scars/scarred pores (hundreds) and a good amount of boxcars. I can live just fine with the indents and i know of plenty of procedures to improve the appearance of them. Also the retinoids seems to be making them smoother/shallower over the long term.

But my main concern is the damn discoloration of it all. I was going to post this in the red marks section but it really isn't hyper-pigmentation as some of it has been hanging around for upwards of 5 years (looking at old photos) looking the same, its also over all of my face so its very frustrating. Its all varying shades of red/pink/grey and nothing like my pale skin tone so stands out like a sore thumb. Then there are shallow box car scars which are red/darker in the indent (some are greyish). There some large ones on my nose and cheeks which really annoy me but they are all over. There is also an all over blotchiness which flares up when im hot or wash or exercise but u can see it all the time. Its like you can see every zit i ever had in varying degrees of discoloration.

So I'm just posting really to see if anyone has experienced a similar thing and found some kind of improvement for it. Indented scarring is bad enough but when its all obviously discolored (like u can see the redness from a couple meters away) it looks much worse.

Heres hoping.

For discoloration, non-ablative fractional lasers work pretty well. So do IPLs, but IPLs are pretty slow.

Of course, things become complicated if you have dark complexion or Asian skin, which can lead to hyper-pigmentation if done improperly.

There is a possibility That the differin is the culprit. Take a night of diiferin and see if you notice a difference the next day. If you look improved with less acne/marks then you have your answer.
