I just got home from the single worst vacation I've ever had. My face practically exploded. I've never been this broken out before. What I'd like to do is sit in a corner and cry for a few days. I feel a little guilty for throwing my self a pity party. We were in this godawful third world country. And all I can do is bitch about how polluted it was and how gross the food was. Way more than half the people there had acne, and it's no wonder why. They can't afford to not eat crap, they don't have access to acne meds or even very much clean water. And the smell of sweat and grease and smog and shit. Oh it was awful. I've never been so happy to be home. But at the same time I really REALLY don't want to see anyone until I get my skin back under control. But that isn't really an option.

  • Interests:I lived with acne for years. It was to the point that makeup wasn't helping. Every acne problem is different. Well, I learned that my acne is caused by my skin flaking and clogging pores. Along with oil...... so I decided to exfoliate my skin almost everyday.

I use baking soda mixed with my facial cleanser. After I'm done I apply Dr thayers witch hazel. If u have acne medication or spot cream. Use it. Of course my face is dry. Well I use burts bees night cream. If I don't use moisturizer, my face would look very dry. Oh the witch hazel was for imflammed pimples, redness, and large pores. I have no more flaky skin, redness, and NO MORE PIMPLES! !!!!

Welcome home... Hope you get your skin under control :) Some climates can be very nasty indeed.

Welcome back. Where did you travel to?
Sucks that the climate and so on didn't do your skin much good but I bet it will soon calm down once it acclimatises and you're back into your regimen.
If nothing else, maybe the whole experience offered a bit of perspective on your situation? I mean, sounds like the people there have more important things to be concerned about than acne, given that they apparently don't have things I bet many of us take for granted. :)

Avenger - Thank you.

Paul - We were visiting the Philippines. It's true, I've never been so close to that kind of poverty before. It was intense. The weird thing is, I feel like I came back with less empathy than I had before. Everyone was really nice but it also looked like most people were running a scam. I don't respond well to people that try to take advantage of other people, even if the sole motivation is to provide for one's family. Maybe once more time has past I'll be able to view this experience more objectively.
