Hello, I've been on Amoxicillin now for 1.5 months and I'm curious if people believe these are symptoms that it's working. In early December, I had on an average day 3 noticeable commedones on the forehead, probably three or four pimples between each cheek, and a decent amount of whiteheads/ clogged blackheads on chin. The pimples on the cheeks are weird because they used to itch and be cyst-like but weren't all that big, but never developed a white head. They congregated around many pores and were just overall annoying. Now, my forehead is currently clear, I get the same type of pimples on my cheeks, and my chin has an okay amount of random pimples. However, while I've been on the antibiotic, I've developed more neck/ body acne. I had a severe case of chest acne about 4 weeks ago but it has since subsided. On my neck, the area will feel dry and then once I feel it, a bump will appear. Last summer, my skin was pretty much clear and non-bothersome, so this is all relatively new to me. Marks also are on most of my cheeks due to my issue with picking with itchy, ugly pimples. I'm supposed to use Retin-A micro every night but I'm scared of purging (even though I'm on an antibiotic) but I've used it on my forehead for 3 weeks and it seems successful. Otherwise, a use a gentle cleanser/toner, then use duac day and night along with a cetaphil moisturizer. There are no DRASTIC improvements which I want, because I OBSESS over my skin. Does anyone see a problem with my regimen, can suggest a possible change in antibiotic or topical? I really dislike any blemishes, even though my skin is very moderate. Thanks!!!

hey I' have a similar type problem i just started getting acne about 5 -6 months ago and I've been on erythromycin and a topical called epiduo. In the first 4 weeks i saw little to no change and just this last week I'm starting to see a slight clearing in my skin. they say to give it 3 months with treatment before giving up some can take the 3 months some people get lucky and clear before. I also used retin-a but it dried me out a lot so i was switched to epiduo. I have read a lot and not heard a lot of people taking amoxcillin for acne ? a lot of people take tetracycline or minocycline , or like me erythromycin. Maybe ask your doctor about those next time? hope i could help a bit

maybe try taking zinc i just started taking it and its suppose to help quite a bit?

Yes, I know amoxicillin is odd, but I took Doxycycline for 4 weeks and my skin arguably worsened, so my derma decided to try something unrelated.

I'm on another antibiotic, Cephalexin, and yesterday marked the beginning of my 4th week. I'm seeing improvements, nothing to brag about. I'm still getting breakouts, but not as big, and they seem to heal a bit quicker. Hopefully by the end of month 2 I'll be clear.
