Hi there!

If I compare my situation to people out here with severe acne, I could say I am lucky. Nevertheless, each person with acne could experience it as if it is the worst thing what is happening to them in life.
As I see it, it is NOT, but definitely something you could be irritated about and something you want to cure! So this acne.org forum is really helpfull!

I am 20 years old, experienced having acne since my 17th birthday as I stopped taking birth control, have some periods I am totally acne-free (mostly during the summer holidays) and in the winter I get the full load. As if those bacteria say: " hey there, sorry that we have neglected you for a while but here a welcome present to tell you that we are still alive" Yeahh!!... -.-

I have visited two skin therapist in my life, both who used the following treatment:
- micro dermabrasie
- removing active acne and stuff
- glycolzuur peeling

A few weeks I go, I got upset because my skin totally broke out as it had never done before and then I got in touch with a girl who has had laser treatment and adviced me to do it! So, I started looking on the internet and found a dermatologist clinique here, well known throughout Holland, and I contacted them for a consult.

Today I went to this clinique and she prescribed me Differin gel as a preparation on the treatments I will get in about 4 weeks:
1) ND Yag laser treatment (says to kill the acne bacteria and heat your skin so stuck sebum will get free access ) and 2) IPL treatment in combination with Peeling based on salicylzuur, ofcourse not all together and only 2 as my insurance will not cover more.

So before and after those treatments I hope I can get my acne under control with the following routine:

Mornings:
Wash my face with Dan cleanser
Apply a little bit of BP
Moisturize and apply sunscreen

Evenings each other day:
Wash my face with Dan cleanser
Apply a little bit of Differin

Other evening:
Wash my face with Dan cleanser
Moisturize

Furthermore, I am also following a Diet. No more bread for me during the week, eating a lot of vegetables, only eating potatoes during the lunch ( I live very close to my university so in the break I go home to prepare myself a nice big meal), no more sugar and milk products for me as well. Stopped with drinking coke and coffee, only drink hot water and thee, and I finish with eating lots of fruit.
In the mornings I eat 'havermout pap' do not know what that is called in English, I add one teaspoon of maca powder (BEST STUFF EVER) and I mix it with a gelly of chia seeds.

And I recently started with taking the following supplements:
- zink
- detox kuur of 15 pills (containts lots of herb who helpes your liver to detox)

Will keep my profile updated how it is going in the next couple of months! One big hello from a Dutch girl!

PS, I added some pictures to show how my skin looks like.

your acne is not really that bad! i dont know if i would recommend serious treatments yet! i think you could find a good ph balanced cleanser and maybe apply manuka honey to your problem areas and be free of acne in a few weeks!
dutch girls are cute! ;)

Yeah, well I do not think my acne is bad but as I know myself with totally acne free periods, then having acne as I have at the moment is just not nice ;)
So, those treatments will only be applied on the problem area which is around my mouth (especially before my period -.-). I just hope it helps, started recently with dating a really nice guy and yeah I just want to be acne free again.

So Dutch girls are cut!? Have you had many contact with them? Oh and btw I totally understand your interest for beach, river, sun and stuff. I have lived all my life around the beach and it is just wonderful! Hmm, but I do not like the shark population around the american beaches though.. I Will be heading to Peru in half a year and luckily they have really nice beaches and waves as well and as far as I know, noo sharks =D!

i agree with dreamingofclearskin, dutch girls are cute haha, at least you.

Isnt your regimen too much? lasers treatments, cleanser,bp and differin? how about just trying dans regimen and the diet. Many people succeded with the caveman regimen, just washing their face with cold water, do you remember your acne being worse after using those chemicals?

Hmm I am going to start with this regime, and will get the first treatment in about 4 weeks. So far, I have not received Dan's kit (1-2 weeks international flat rate) so I hope they arrive soon. I do use another cleanser though, but it tends to give me a dry feeling and my skins starts to flake a bit, it is called "porecleanse from medik8" and after that I just moisturize it with a cream which really moisturize it but maybe it also clogges my pores, i have no clue. Since I started to use these products it kind of made my acne worse...(hey i just started to realize that!) But i have no other products to replace them YET.. Only the differin at this moment..
Oke in four weeks I will make pictures of my skin again to show you if it has changed positively!

And thanks for the nice comments ;)

Oh and both of you goodluck! I like it that you both are positive guys! I will be following your progress each week, inform me when you have found the ingredient to cure acne XD

Oke, I just found out one of the reasons why I am breaking out... There is tea tree oil in my cleanser and like a couple years ago when I only used pure tea tree oil I got this brakeout on my forehead! stopped with using it and cleared up. Hmm, oke hopefully there is not tea tree oil in Dan's products...

good find! eliminating things is the key to clear skin not so much adding things ;)
