If I compare my situation to people out here with severe acne, I could say I am lucky. Nevertheless, each person with acne could experience it as if it is the worst thing what is happening to them in life.
As I see it, it is NOT, but definitely something you could be irritated about and something you want to cure! So this acne.org forum is really helpfull!
I am 20 years old, experienced having acne since my 17th birthday as I stopped taking birth control, have some periods I am totally acne-free (mostly during the summer holidays) and in the winter I get the full load. As if those bacteria say: " hey there, sorry that we have neglected you for a while but here a welcome present to tell you that we are still alive" Yeahh!!... -.-
I have visited two skin therapist in my life, both who used the following treatment:
- micro dermabrasie
- removing active acne and stuff
- glycolzuur peeling
A few weeks I go, I got upset because my skin totally broke out as it had never done before and then I got in touch with a girl who has had laser treatment and adviced me to do it! So, I started looking on the internet and found a dermatologist clinique here, well known throughout Holland, and I contacted them for a consult.
Today I went to this clinique and she prescribed me Differin gel as a preparation on the treatments I will get in about 4 weeks:
1) ND Yag laser treatment (says to kill the acne bacteria and heat your skin so stuck sebum will get free access ) and 2) IPL treatment in combination with Peeling based on salicylzuur, ofcourse not all together and only 2 as my insurance will not cover more.
So before and after those treatments I hope I can get my acne under control with the following routine:
Mornings:
Wash my face with Dan cleanser
Apply a little bit of BP
Moisturize and apply sunscreen
Evenings each other day:
Wash my face with Dan cleanser
Apply a little bit of Differin
Other evening:
Wash my face with Dan cleanser
Moisturize
Furthermore, I am also following a Diet. No more bread for me during the week, eating a lot of vegetables, only eating potatoes during the lunch ( I live very close to my university so in the break I go home to prepare myself a nice big meal), no more sugar and milk products for me as well. Stopped with drinking coke and coffee, only drink hot water and thee, and I finish with eating lots of fruit.
In the mornings I eat 'havermout pap' do not know what that is called in English, I add one teaspoon of maca powder (BEST STUFF EVER) and I mix it with a gelly of chia seeds.
And I recently started with taking the following supplements:
- zink
- detox kuur of 15 pills (containts lots of herb who helpes your liver to detox)
Will keep my profile updated how it is going in the next couple of months! One big hello from a Dutch girl!
PS, I added some pictures to show how my skin looks like.
