Hey,

So, after reading more, I realized that I probably had a lot of clogged pores so I began using SA.

I'd read about purging and I have been purging for the past week or so--not too bad actually, the breakouts are less severe than what I was getting before I started using BP so it's...tolerable.

At any rate, the rate of the purging seems to be slowing down now and was wondering about how long I could expect it to continue, or if anyone had any personal experiances?

Did continued SA help?

Side note, I have huge pores, any suggestions?

Thanks!

Everyone's skin reacts different to products. I would say you should not be purging beyond another week or so. It's helpful to people to list the products you are using.

Oh, alright, thank-you.

Right now, I'm using Oxy 5% BP and Clearasil Ultra w/2% SA.

I have some SA lotion from Paula Begoun coming in.

I'm not a fan of Clearsil products. Since you're getting Paula's SA, I would suggest you get a mild cleanser like Purpose or Dan's to use in your regimen. You may be seeing a reaction to the coconut oils in Clearasil versus any purging from SA.

Huh, alright, I'll try that.

I'm not a huge fan of Clearasil either, but it was quick and worked in the interim so maybe things will get better once I get the other stuff.

At any rate, thank-you for your help! I'll post updates over the course of the next few weeks as I try stuff.

Edit - I meant I'll try the cleanser--I used hand soap and that sucked! (Not anymore of course, but I tried it)

I've been using Paula's Choice BHA 2% liquid for a few years now and it works great for me. It is helping me deal with my current skin nightmare from massively clogged pores. Just be careful when you first start using her BHA products. I made the big mistake of using it twice a day in the beginning and it did break me out, but i went down to once a day and my skin calmed down.

I also am thinking of returning to using a SA foaming face wash either in the AM with aczone and cetaphil bar cleanser with acanya (bp and clindamycin) at night. My aquaglycolic face wash made me break out for some reason. I have used it before in the AM and PM and took a break, but I have severe clogged pores so I would like to bring SA back into my regimen. Would that work or be to drying/irritating for my skin with all those products? Plus I want to really work on my dark marks from previous breakouts.
