When I used Accutane way back when, I was clear in less than a month. My daughter took several months to get clear and actually broke out worse initially. So it's just how your body works with it. I would guess in a month you'll notice a difference.
You will definitely need sunscreen (most importantly), a moisturizer, and a lip balm. Get yourself no less than SPF 30, avoid any prolonged sun exposure. I recommend Aquaphor ointment for your lips. CeraVe has a good moisturizer for Accutane users. My daughter used this and it kept her skin moisturized. It made her start breaking out once she stopped Accutane, so she stopped using it then; but on Accutane, it's a good one.

I like using cetaphil moisturiser, keeps me moisturised all day...apart from my crusty nose which I use lucas pawpaw ointment for... I don't use sunscreen as it's winter here and I'm always indoors...Are you from Ripon, Yorkshire?...If so you should be fine too haha?...until spring hits maybe? x x

I only use a couple drops of jojoba oil if I feel like I need it, but some people get extremely dry skin, so it kind of depends.

I have almost finished my course and I didnt mositruize that much.
My arms would get eczma like sore so I tried to moisturize them as much as possible, back of neck would get really dry after a shower. Other than that I only moisturized after I shaved, so not daily.
Lips were probably worse than everything else.

hello there, moisturising is a good idea in the early stages if your skin isn't oily, try to prevent the skin from drying out asap.
i'm also on a 20mg dose and have been for over a year, i know that sounds horrible but i'm glad i have done it this way. my derm suggested a low dose is safest if i'm willing to stick it out for the long run. i was hesitant to go on accutane seeing as two of my brothers went on it and both got auto immune diseases, but to be honest living with acne seemed just as horrible and i had to give it a go. seeing as my brothers were on quite a high dose a low dose seemed much safer even though it will take a longer time for my acne to disappear. i reluctantly admit that my acne was quite severe, looking in the mirror was a big no no and i avoided it at all costs. but now i'm proud to look in the mirror. as i've had acne for over 5 years one year doesn't seem so bad. so stick it out my friend! you are not alone. many a kid is riddled with this horrible, agonising and depressing thing called acne, be patient and just wait until you can be proud to look at your face.
best of luck.
