Having struggled with acne, seborrhea and something similar to eczema or psoriasis for 15 years, I have tried hundreds of different products and treatment methods. I was a bit surprised that the most effective regimen by far would be natural. As I am scientifically trained and educated I was skeptical about natural treatments, but upon closer look at the scientific literature I saw that the products I used were indeed scientifically proven to work.
So here is the regimen I developed. Works on acne, seborrhea, blackheads and most skin conditions.
Step 1, Cleanse: Lactic acid cleanser (Lactacyd if you can find, very cheap... Acnicyl cleanser even better, but more expensive).
If you have seborrhea, other skin conditions or just wish some extra power in your treatment: Reporia (tar and sulfur soap) or my favorite Noble Zinc Pyrithione (available world-wide)
Step 2, Tone (optional): Toner I invented. Brew a very strong tea of Thyme, Oregano and Rosemary. Mix in equal parts of either apple cider vinegar or alcohol with salicylic acid, depending on your preference and how oily your skin is (if oily, go with alcohol). Thyme, oregano are proven antimicrobials. Thymol for example can be found in Listerine mouthwash. Oil of oregano is recommended by some doctors for seborrheic dermatitis. Rosemary is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, with a long history of use in skin-care. Rosemary can be skipped.
Step 3, Moisturize and Treat: Propolis cream. It is anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and has anti-oxidative properties. Basically everything you could ever want in treating your acne and it's a moisturizer too. Buy here http://www.medibee.co.uk/creams2.php
Lifestyle and nutrition: multi-vitamin, solid sleeping schedule, herbal teas and spices; increase intake of beta-carotene, Vitamin E, minerals... decrease caffeine and alcohol.
To summarize, very cheap and even more effective treatment. You'll see radical improvements in 1-2 weeks regardless of what your skin condition is. I don't need to provide references for lactic acid, tar and sulfur, zinc pyrithione because they are all proven and widely accepted to be good treatment alternatives. The science is not as strong for the toner but since it's optional step I'm not going to spend hours looking for references. For propolis you can look at for example this reference: http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/22179947 . If you search on www.pubmed.com for 'propolis skin' you'll find a long list of evidence of it's anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and wound healing properties.
