I started accutane (Claravis 40 mg once daily with meal) about a week and a half ago on January 5. After about three days I immediately started seeing results.

But just a couple days ago my acne started getting more severe. This is when I began to develop severe cystic acne on both my right and left cheeks close to my nose, and for the past couple of days, I've woken up with what seems like hundreds of whiteheads in the same affected area. This seems to be the only place I'm breaking out at, apart from a few whiteheads scattered around my face.

I understand that it's going to get worse before it gets better, so I've stopped using my Dermalogica products with salycilic acid, and I've begun using Cetaphil products such as their facial wash and facial moisturizer because anything else just hurts my face too much.

Basically, my question is for those of you who have completed accutane treatment. Are these mass whitehead breakouts and cystic acne breakouts normal, and if so, how long do they usually last? My hope is that they will not last my entire treatment, and hopefully just a couple of weeks, because these cystic breakouts and whiteheads are extremely painful. Also, what products would you reccomend for relief for your face for these types of breakouts?
