update: 28 day, 20mg a day. UGGHH!! Breaking out in painful pimples.

Probably not for much longer...You'll probably start noticing some changes soon. Have you noticed that your hair does not get greasy anymore? I can go at least 4 days without washing it. I haven't tried going any longer than 4 days, but I'm sure I could.

You know, my hair is less greasy now. I wash my hair everyday because if I don't it'll be super oily the next day. I've only tested not washing my hair for one day and the next day it wasn't as oily.

Update: 31th day. 40mg today.
My dose got upped to 40mg. (20mg taken earlier and just took the second pill just now). There's a lot of new and healing cyst near the jawline and the side of my face, and my neck. I hope the higher dose will show positive signs.

Yea, I just started on 40mg yesterday. Now let's see if we're gonna experience this "excessive drying" thing people speak of lol

Yea, I'm experiencing the same thing. I wonder if we're gonna experience dryness by the end of this month.

Update: 2nd month, 40mg a day. 4th day.
My hyperpigmentation is less red by like 5%, but still a tomato red face.
Been experiencing bleeding nose, but it dries out quickly. I think I'm slowly breaking out again especially in the same area as where my active/healing cyst are. Blackheads are a lot less now. I've been picking and that makes things a lot worst. I know, I know...I need to stop picking, but it itches even though my skin is not super dry yet.

It feels like a long journey and I've been having doubts. It's just really hard. I feel like I shouldn't be upset over this when there's much, much worst diseases out there.

acne is no joke. people dismiss it because its not life threatning, but i consider it a serious disease.

I didn't know that. I guess people who never experience real acne problems tend to dismiss it. It's just really unfair.

Update: 40mg/day 2nd month, 12th day.
New break outs: painful cysts or something. It just hurts a lot and it made me really depress.
I can tell that they're drying up, but the painful reminder just sucks. I couldn't sleep well one night because of the pain. Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks and making it a lot painful than it is, but I have never experienced this before.

that's really good advice, thank you! I'll try doing that Posted Image
Wow you're at 80mg now?! I'm so excited for you! I'm still at 40mg so there is no major dryness.

Update: 40mg/day. 2nd month, 18th day.
Breaks out calmed down, but new ones are developing, but not as bad. One new cyst formed.
I haven't gotten any dryer, but just normal and a bit oily. My nose was pretty flakey, but now it's back to normal.
I've been getting nosebleeds, but it isn't too bad.

My face is still very red and angry.
edit: I forgot to mentioned the minor muscle weakness on my ankles. Nothing majorly painful, but very uncomfortable.

I do tend to take the pills at different times each day so I wonder if that affects the effectiveness of the pills?

Update: Nothing new to report. Still having persistent little break outs here and there.

Anyways, I was reading a lot of the accutane logs and people are suggesting that it's better to be on a higher dose to avoid relapse.
I only weigh around 95-97lb and the derm says I shouldn't go any higher than 40mg, but I really do not want to have a relapse! Do you guys think I should request for a higher dose?
Is it okay to go over the cumulative 120-150 mg/kg guide?

My first month was 20mg, currently on 2nd month of 40mg and I'm about to enter the 3rd month.
Any ideas??? Or suggestions on what doses I should be on for the next couple of months? I would ask the my derm, but he seems to lack any experience with this issue /sigh/.

Hey there.. i hve used accutane myself for about 4 months or so.. throughout my course i was kept on 20mg daily.. I weighed 150lbs back then.. but it worked well.. the progress was very slow but it worked out well in the end.. it took me around 3 months to see any visible results.. your skin is going to be purging out all the impurities there is and its the mst difficult phase right now.. battling with depression was the worse.. hated seeing myself in the mirror.. just hang in there and it will be all worth it at the end of the course.. joints pains tend to happen.. i experienced them too..

I suggest stick to whatever your doc says.. dont experiment what so ever.. tke cre of ur skin as though its a baby.. dnt exfoliate or do anything that would irritate your skin.. change ur diet if u can and eat healthier.. loads of greens and water.. it helps.. dont eat anything too oily or heavy.. your are half way there.. so jst stay strng... its been 2 years since i stopped accutane.. i get ocassional break out.. like one or 2.. but nothing i cant handle.. all the best.. we are all here to support you ! :)

Thank you! Sometimes I do feel really depress and that worries me, but I think it's because I keep looking in the mirror or thinking about how much pain I'm going through. I am trying to eat more vegetables and drink more water so I do hope I recieve good result. I'm really glad it worked out for you. I can't believe you were on such a low dose :)

Sorry, I haven't been updating my progress...
I'm trying to think less about my treatment so I decided to stop coming here for a couple of days.

I'm in the beginning of my third month and I have 10 new cyst. Dryness is still very minimal.

It shouldn't be long now! You will probably start seeing a major improvement this month.
