heya all! I am new to this site , heard a lot about acne.org from you tube videos and some friends....finally made an account and this is my first post. Well, to start with... I have been suffering from not very severe adult acne for tha past few years ...they are on and off, sometimes my skin is extremely clear and sometimes its just breaking out like hell! Recently, i have moved to another country and since I have come here, the very next day of my visit, i broke out sooo bad....it was a nightmare, I think it was an environmental change effect on my skin as I have a sensitive skin...so, my husband gave me tretinoin gel USP 0.1% to use topically, my acne got better but resulted in extreme reddness and flakiness ....stopped using it after that and since then , my skin has never cleared completely, i am always breaking out ...although they are not severe...but i want my face to be completely clear :( ...So, after I found this site, read some reviews, and started with dan's regimen....my skin is feeling better..., I am currently on GINET 84 pills....( been a month now) and these i guess are same as diane 35 ... I have noticed red bumps all over my chest and back..but they are clearing now...... yet, I am confused about using tretinoin topically because two days ago, i got a few pimples on my jaw line and I use tretinoin gel 0.1% for two consecutive days..., pimples are no more..but I am left with reddness , which sucks:( I was going through some reviews and discovered that tretinoin is good for wrinkles as well..! So, i want to know, if i can use tretinoin gel0.1% on my whole face ...? I would cure my acne as well as get some anti ageing benefit as well.....So, please if someone has some info on this ..please do reply! And also, how often should i use it...everyday or every other day ...???

thanks in advance everyone :)

cheers!

Welcome aboard! Posted Image

I use the gel and I've been prescribed it for about ten months now. I could never use things like Benzoyl Peroxide and all the usual over-the-counter suspects because they burned my skin and made it extremely sore almost on contact. That doesn't happen with the Isotretinoin gel though and I can use that without the irritation.

What I would say is that it's always important to start with small amounts and perhaps increase the application as your skin starts to get used to it, although to be honest, I found that the gel works so well for me that I only need to use very tiny amounts anyway. I've been able to use it on large problem areas such as my cheeks and bring those under control, rubbing a small amount over those areas on a nightly basis as needed. I also find that I can use it as an on-the-spot treatment should something randomly pop up and it'll get rid of those literally within a couple of days as though they were never even there to begin with.

So, in theory, you should be able to use it wherever the problem areas are, as long as you don't use too much too soon and as long as you don't over-apply it. Perhaps best to start with just once a day and stick with that for a while, then perhaps increase the frequency of applications if you think it's needed and if you think your skin can take it.

I don't see why you couldn't. Shouldn't do any harm to give it a try and see what kind of routine works for you in relation to whatever problems you're trying to tackle.

Whenever I've applied anything else to my skin, I've waited maybe ten or fifteen minutes until the gel is absorbed. The information which comes with the gel I get suggests not using any other products on top of it, but if ever I've used an anticeptic cream or something at night to help reduce redness, I can say for sure that it hasn't prevented the gel from doing a great job. :)
