Hi everyone! I'm new to acne.org. I've been reading this forum since summer, but never posted anything, simply because I found all the answers to my questions. But Now I feel like sharing some of my personal experiences and opinions on here. I saw lots of rants on Emotional section as well. We all need that support sometimes. I also loved Nutrition and Holistic section and I changed so many things in my diet. But unfortunately with no results so far.
My acne is moderately-to-severe cystic acne. I'm 21 years old female, who's been suffering from acne since 17. I think I inherited my acne from my parents ( they both suffered from cystic acne in their teens). I hope I will outgrow my acne someday, but while that happens I want to have some control over my skin. I haven't taken any pills( no antibiotics,no Accutane, no BC pills, no Spironolactone), I've never been to dermotologist either. I just follow some diets ( that I've read on this site), but they don't really help. I'm already giving up hopes.

I am in a similar position to you, I inherited acne from my dad but hope I will outgrow my acne sooner rather than later at the same age his cleared up, and although you haven't taken any pills yet and followed diets, have you used anything else at all? BP gel or similar? If you have and still no luck, ignore this bit.
If not, you need to give Dan's regimen here on the site a shot, like you said, you want an ability to control your acne, and that is exactly what BP is for me. It didn't remove my acne completely (although it does for some people!) but it lets me control it to a certain degree, which is great as thats all I wanted when it was out of control. I don't want to sound like a salesman or something for the regimen but it really helped me the most.
