My name is Ash I have just joined because I am about to embark on the roaccutane journey... my acne is stubborn and is hormonal or allergy related who knows ! but defiently not food ( I eat clean) or exercise realted, I use the right products, I do research.. so yeah I am at my last resort.
I have a little bit of acne at the moment (2 active pimples on the left side of my face which are small and a few clogged pores), when I was prescribed roaccutane 2 months ago my acne was sort off bad (6 active pimples) I just had gotten salicylic acid peel done a week prior to my derm visit (never get that done) !
I have struggled with stubborn acne which goes from being clear, to being mild to being moderate.... and it controls my self esteem, I aspire to be a fitness model and I want to fix this problem once and for all.
I have tried yasmin BC the first time I took that it cleared me up completely then it came back, the second time I used it, it was not as effective. I have also taken spirolactone which did clear me up but once again came back after I stopped taking it.
A piece of advice for people who have not TRIED everything .. I have found the best combination is ... STOP USING HARSH PRODUCTS ! I have spent probably thousands of dollars on stupid high end products with 100000 ingredients in them and they don't work ...
- Scrub your face at least twice a week - I stopped using a scrub for a few months and developed severely clogged pores so do use a scrub a gentle one ..
- If you have clogged pores use a gycolic cleanser ! it works wonders within a month my clogged pores purged and was all gone
- don't skip moistruizer - the more dryier your skin is the more sebum your face will produce and more sebum = more pimples
- dont get microdermabrasion if you have acne, I had a few active pimples when getting my brasions done, my skin texture was great but what happens is that it erupts your face and spreads ! so if your acne free and u have scars look into microdermabrasion its great !
- if you use benzoyl peroxide wait 5 mins then put moistruizer on ! i always use to skip the moistruizer until i was told the science behind dry skin - sebum build up... so make sure you moistruise !
That's all the tips I can think of at the moment but If i can think of any others I will add them..
For those who have tried roaccutane I have a few questions:
- I was wondering if you got an intial breakout
- It effects working out
- Does diet effect results (my food sources mainly come from fats & protein, I only eat carbs to fuel my workouts)
- Does it effect metabolism or ability to put on muscle
- Can you still go in the sun ... with suncreen on offcourse
I have attached photos of my acne as of today (right now) the photos are from my phone wouldn't say they are great quality .. but my right side is the side that is the worst.
Oh and if anyone wants any advice with nutrition or gym related stuff hit me up
bye xx
