So for the past 3 or 4 years I've been using the DKR Benzoyl Peroxide, and at first it did help in clearing up my acne, but for the past 2 years or so it hasn't really done much at all, but I'm still continuing to apply it every night just in case it is possibly helping to somewhat get rid of current acne and/or prevent future acne. I'm also taking Doxycycline (Which pretty much lost effectiveness a few months ago, but I'm still taking it just in case it is still somewhat working).

I'm pretty much out of ideas on how I can get rid of my acne other than going on Accutane, but that is not an option at this point. Which brings me to my question, is 5% or 10% really more effective than 2.5%? Like are they safe to use on your skin for most people? Because I've heard bad stories about both of those types of BP, which is why most people use Dan's 2.5% because it's not nearly as harsh on the skin.

Because if clearing up my acne (Or helping to) would be to just get a higher percent of BP, that'd be awesome. Because I can tell that 2.5% does help a lot in getting rid of acne for me overnight that I currently have, but it doesn't seem to help prevent any breakouts.

Any help would be great, thanks!

This may help with your decision. http://www.acne.org/...herpercentagebp

If you have been on the Regimen and your results have waned, let's look into it and see if we can find out why.
Read here: http://www.acne.org/...stmistakes.html
And take this quiz. http://www.acne.org/regimenadvice.php

Hope that helps!

I personally dont know that the higher dosages do much other than deepen and speed up the irritation of the skin... I found using the high doses just made me red, sore and peel more...

Thanks a lot for the links! After reading those, the only thing that has really changed in my Regimen is that I'm not applying benzoyl peroxide to my face twice a day anymore. I can only apply it once a day (Before I got sleep) because in the day time I apply a topical on my skin to help heal my red marks. But even then, I still don't know if me not applying it twice a day is really the main reason of what it's not working 100%, because when I first started noticing that the regimen had stopped working, I was still applying it twice a day just as recommended and I was still getting acne, so I'm not really sure what the deal is. My acne has gotten worse since I've been on the regimen (Not because of the Regimen though, I guess I'm just getting more acne now than I was a couple years ago), so could that be part of the reason too? Is the Regimen just not strong enough to take care of all of my acne anymore?

Ahhh yeah! That's exactly what I've read too, but I'm desperate and I have no idea what to do at this point......

Our esthetician recommends and sells 10% for acne that is more than just blackheads. She also stair steps your use so that the chance of irritation is unlikely. BP is not BP. Make sure you are looking at the ingredients packaged in your BP. If you are using a 2.5% BP, then 97.5% is other stuff that can irritate your skin or clog your pores.
