This is a question I posted in yahoo answer and I feel it's relevant to this topic.
"Isn't it sad how though we are constantly told, "it's what's on the inside that counts" when this is obviously not true. There are quite a few studies that prove the theory that, 'beautiful people' get preferential treatment, more opportunities, better encounters with people ( the list goes on) whilst the rest of the 'ugly people' have to fight that much harder for a life, half as good as an attractive person. There was this one study that really left me saddened. The study basically proved that 'pretty' children, were treated better, were protected better. "A beauty bias against children seems so startling because you grow up thinking parents are the only ones who will give you unconditional love, not measure it out in coffee spoons based on your genetic luck - which, after all, they're responsible for." An extract from one of the many studies, even when you're engaging in a conversation with someone, your looks play a major factor on how attentive the person is to what you're saying. Surely this is all just wrong, I mean genetics give you the short straw and society pokes holes in that very same straw, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRINK YOUR JUICE!!."
People who can see people from the inside-out, rather than vice-versa are truly rare in the world.
