Hi, I have a question for the women of Acne.org. Is acne and PIH/scars a huge factor in socializing with men? If so, what's your general attitude towards guys with moderate - severe acne. Do you shun them off, do you try to minimize the duration of the conversation or do you act as if its just another random guy. In a situation where you see a guy with acne, PIH and scars do you continuously stare at his face, how do you react? I'm asking this because, I'm a guy suffering with mild acne, nothing too bad but very noticeable scars and PIH. I've been noticing that my face has been getting somewhat better for example PIH marks have been fading also noticing an influx of girls looking at me. I would like to think that girls are looking at me because I'm cute but that's simply not the case.Today, I walked by a guy with acne and had noticeable scars and he gave me a stare, so in my head I was like, "he's definitely looking at my acne' but generally guys don't really stare at me. Later that day I was in the restaurant with a couple of my fwends and a girl kept looking at me whenever I got up to go to the washroom. So it's either she thinks I'm cute or I have such terrible acne and PIH that she feels the continuous need to look at my face whenever I get up. I'm really confused :s

eh not really for me. I have basically clear skin (like 2 small pimples a month max) but i dont just go for guys who have clear skin. Until i read this and actually thought about it, skin is never a big issue for me (definitely for me it is all about a guys personality). this girl might have been looking at you because you kept looking at her hahahaha or maybe she did think you were a cutie!!

i'm a guy but i understand where you're coming from. it's simple really. you want girls looking at you because you're cute? first of all, are you cute? do people give compliments to you? are you not deluded? were you under good/bad lights in that restaurant?

OP, it was never my intention to hijack your thread but i also got another interesting question for the ladies. How would you react if you saw a cute guy who you once thought was attractive (he has acne scarring but it wasn't visible because of lighting) under the harsh lights, flourescent, daylight, et cetera? Is it a complete turn-off? Kinda like a guy seeing a girl without make-up? Please answer truthfully.

well I still stand by what i said earlier but just think of it this way, would you react badly if you saw a girl you thought was attractive in bad lighting? If your a decent guy, probably not. If i saw a guy under bad lighting and noticed his scars for the first time i would probably be like surprised for about 3 seconds and then honestly not really care about it after that. Kinda of what you said about girls and makeup. You might be surprised for a few seconds but not turned off (I hope lol).

no, i will not react badly. i have no rights to. i've heard from guys saying stuff like the girl they once thought was beautiful, is not anymore because she's got acne. it's just devastating to hear such comments. lol @ life.

oh boo to them, they sound like pricks. I have friends who are superficial like that and make a big deal about acne (ironically one of my friends who does that has acne herself!) but i just think, why even be with someone like that anyway. I do get what you mean about those types of comments being devastating though. But the majority of girls out there are not concerned with acne :D (i hope that is the same with guys hahahaha)

I might sound like an asshole here but here goes. Usually when a girl has acne it isn't here biggest problem. The problem is their weird anxiety problems and how they want to hide from everything, along with the angry flare ups they get from having it. Emotionally and mentally the people with acne are just WEIRD. I have no acne (use to have severe acne) and acted like this sometimes myself. It is a confidence issue, and if anything says sexy it is confidence (a relaxes confidence at that). I am abstinent myself. I work in a profession where almost no one has acne, but there is this one lady who does (shes prolly 28, I am 24). So since she is younger we get along pretty good, compared to the older people in my profession. She really doesn't even have bad acne, she has cystic but it's only like 1 or 2 actives at a time, and she is so selfconscious about it, she just comes off as someone that is trying to hide it all the time. I mean it's just weird that she does that, because I or anyone else really doesn't care.

I don't have a problem with men that have acne whether it's mild or moderate. I'm not superficial but I can't speak for all ladies. Maybe the girl was starring at you because she thought you were cute. I've seen plenty of guys with bad acne but with beautiful eyes and a gorgeous smile.

For me, if your face is attractive, it doesn't matter if you have acne or acne scars. The last guy I liked had dark hair, green eyes, tan/olive skin, and severe icepick/acne on his cheeks.....I just could not stop looking at this guy, he was really attractive, and just the fact that he wasn't 100% perfect (with acne) made me attracted to him even more......

Also, it's not only about the face, I had a crush on this guy when I was younger...for a good 3 years! His personality is what I liked, and whenever I told my friends I liked him, they would always comment on his acne, like "oh no he has bad acne"....I'm starting to think it's a trend...

True confidence makes you look more attractive . It's hard and I say this myself because I have acne and to be confident , it's sometimes impossible . Lately I've been trying my best to act like I don't give a crap but I just hate getting stares, one of my biggest pet peeves . I wouldnt care about a guy with acne . I've seen guys with severe acne and I find them attractive because they have confidence and smile all the time . I never noticed acne until I got it I'll tell you that .

Brad Pitt had acne scars (I'm guessing a surgeon helped get rid of those) and Johnny Depp had acne and may have scars. And they're on that site celebacne.com

i completely agree on your response. Confidence really is what matters. I also never really noticed acne/scarring on people until I got it myself and now it drives me crazy cuz I don't even try to stare or look at people's faces and i'll notice when a person has ONE pimple. Its an annoying habit for me,

I work at a gym and Ive seen guys with really bad acne/scarring and they're still incredibly attractive and alot of the girl gym members and my girl coworkers talk about them all the time.

Funny thing is, is when I had really bad acne and covered it with makeup (but it was obvious that i had acne) guys still approached me and still tried getting at me, and now that im sort of clear with moderate acne mainly on my cheeks n forehead and have a lot of pitted scarring and i don't wear any makeup at all, guys don't really give me a second look unless they're looking at my boobs or my ass (perverted i know) but at the time i had really bad acne, i never really let it get to me b/c i didn't realize how severe it was but i was still outgoing and happy. Than when my severe depression kicked back in, i got really obsessed with my face (acne/scarring) and i started being more insecure and isolating myself and now im more quiet, i dont dress up anymore, and i always have this glum look on my face exactly like my picture plus the glasses....

so i guess it shows you that confidence and personality does play a big factor...

This is the main reason I work out. To have a body to attract the opposite sex.
