Hi everybody,
I finally registered as a member here and decided to bring out my own story with Retin-A. I am 15 years old and i have been using Retin-A since September 5th. I consider my acne moderate to a little bit severe. At first I felt like it was working and heard that you have to stick to it to work. But it is now the 16th week and my skin is not clearing up fully. It cleared up for the most part on my forehead and the left side of my face but now the right side is red and has big huge bumps on them. I dont know what to do. My regimen is Cetaphil Cleansing in the morning and at night Cetaphil again and wait 30 minutes before applying retin a 0.025% Someone please help!

It is always difficult to tell if retin-a is working or not and for some people they see results in a matter of weeks to months (it took me 4-5 months to see results with retin-a). But since you classified your acne as moderate to possibly severe, retin-a may not be enough for you. You could ask your derm to prescribe an antibiotic for you and increase the dosage of the retin-a to .05%. I know this can be frustrating, but acne medications are kind of like trial and error. Still I would go back to your doctor and state that you are not satisfied with your skin and would like to adjust your medications. Hopefully you will find the right kind of regimen soon :)

Pea-sized amount spread evenly across your face. Retin-A is a long journey.
