hi, im sorta new on acne.org but it's been a really big help since i found it!

like some of you guys, my acne has been around forever! when i say that, i mean i had my first few clogged pores at 11. ive tried EVERYTHING it feels like. so i finally after halloween this year, i got prescribed epiduo and have been using it since in conjunction with doxycycline.

i understand that there is the dreaded initial breakout, so i kinda prepared myself for it. i did have a VERY little purge, but now, 2 months later, i feel like my progress is much slower than others. im jealous of those people that had the terrible breakout for like 2 or 3 weeks then had noticeable clearer skin afterwards. my face isnt bad at all anymore. my acne is localized on my cheeks (most terrible place to get acne if you ask me because people are hesitant to kiss ur cheeks!!) and right now it is mostly brown marks from previous pimples, but i still have a few clogged pores there. i also currently have one active spot on my right cheek.

i guess my question is, when should i expect clear skin? i dont mean to sound impatient because i am seeing results and i know there are others on this site that have it much worse than i do, but im tired of waking up to this mess :( should i ride it out for a few more months? what can i do differently?

This is a good question. Definitely wait it out. It honestly realistically takes 6 months to see the majority of results. 1 year to pretty much perfect skin. It's so worth it. One question though- what other products are you using in conjunction with it? Cleanser/moisturizer/etc.

thanks for replying so quickly!

i use cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer with spf 15. morning and night. i apply epiduo once a day. i do use mineral make up with spf 15. i was thinking about using cerave since it has niacinamide.. do u think that will matter?

what do you think i should do differently to help speed it up? my brother is using atralin 0.05 i think and his face is sooo clear besides the red marks that are fading and hes been using it for three months! im jealous!

Hmmm. What's your budget? You can use skincare that does a little bit more than just cleanse and moisturize. When I first started I was using really basic stuff and when I switched to Caudalie day & night moisturizer I was literally amazed at the difference. I am not saying go crazy, but good skincare in tandem with epiduo can really take your skin to the next level. If you tell me your price range I can recommend some items for you :)

I'm not using Epiduo but I do use Differin. Honey seriously helped a lot with my acne.
