Just in the past week I've learned that as much time and money and stress and obsession as I've put into my skin, there are certain things that are worth a little bit more to me. I've learned that I would not give up an hour of sleep, my favorite foods, my favorite foundation, or sex for the sake of my complexion.
Now folks, tell me. What would you not give up?

I willingly give up anything to have clear skin...
Gave up dairy products (which was SO hard; cheese was my favorite food.)
Gave up anorexia recovery and gaining weight to focus on my skin.
Gave up HOURS of my day in order to take thorough showers (sometimes 2x a day), wash and moisturize my face, wash my bedding and towels everyday, and do many other things to ensure I'm perfectly clean all the time.
Gave up my styling my hair with products (have to wear it up in a bun all the time now...)
Gave up outdoor/dirty activities I love in order to keep my skin clean (swimming in the lake or pools, hiking, camping...)
Gave up lying on my stomach with my face buried in my pillow (my most comfortable sleeping position.)
Gave up my leisurely yoga/stretching sessions after hard workouts because I had to shower IMMEDIATELY to get the sweat off my face.
Gave up outdoor running (my passion) because the cold air chaps my skin.
Gave up snuggling with my pets because I'm afraid they'll rub against my face and get it dirty.
Gave up working out when I come home from school because that would mean I would have to wash my makeup off before and then wash it again afterward, which would be too drying.
Gave up 2-3 hours of sleep to get up early to workout before school.
... I could keep going, but you're probably bored by now...

I like your attitude here, it reminds me of what I was like as well. I mean, I tried the dieting thing, and it was just flat out stressful, so I quit and never looked back. I use to be a cook, working my way in high school, and I really enjoy food and cooking. Diet or foods were never the cause of my acne thank goodness, however at one point in time I did give it up in an effort to beat acne.

You've got a great perspective. I tried a lot of different things, but they caused more stress when I wasn't noticing any results. Ultimately I decided that most of my acne was psychological-based, and simply getting adequate sleep and enjoying life (along with my usual regimen) works the best for my skin.

I'd give up whatever's necessary in order to help my skin. I've given up certain foods and it's helped such a lot over the last month and my skin has been awesome this Christmas. Haven't been able to say that for thirteen years, let alone actually experience it. So in the end, my diet is more disciplined now but that can only be a good thing. I didneast as much at Christmas as in previous years and I avoided a few things, but it's no hardship or issue so I'm totally fine with it. In theory, I might be able to reintroduce some of those things at a later point but if it were as black and white as to say that I couldn't have them again if I want to stay clear, doesn't seem like a high price at all.
