Hey all you beautiful people Posted Image

My acne started in my early teens. This of course made me a closed doors type of person and till this day it takes a lot of energy for me to interact with people. I still follow a strict diet and keep fit, but of course still get acne and am still embarrassed of my skin Posted Image

Because I have always been a loner I developed a lot of hobbies. One of these hobbies became my career!
Back in high school I started making computer games. A means to create a world I would be happy to be part of. I continued to pursue this goal in college.

By the time I turned 22 I already had a job in my chosen career and since then I have been a lot of success in this industry.

My acne made me create a lifestyle that benefited me in my career Posted Image

Have you guys got any similar stories?

No, not similar. Although I do not have acne anymore, in my professional career there have been a few, however, none of them were ever shy or timid, they were outgoing, relaxed and comfortable to be around, its just part of the job, either you are a people person in my line of work or you just aren't. There was one woman that had acne, and she was shy and tried to hide from everything, like even when I was trying to talk with her, she tried to give short fast answers and look away, avoid making eye contact. I understood where she was coming from because I often felt that way when I was a teen with acne. I wouldn't call work a hobbie, specially video games (thats just me though). I have plenty of hobbies that are non-work related, however I do consider myself a workaholic, mainly because I am young. There are just two types of people in the work world. The ones that do what they are asked, and then the ones that do what they are asked and then some. You just fall into the latter category. I think maybe exploring new hobbies in life are important, travel, spending time with friends and family, and getting off the beaten path, pretty much out of you comfort zone. Take a month off in summer and go camping in the western national parks, its a trip!

it made me always want to hide from people. I would spend a lot of time studying alone, and did very well in school, which will hopefully lead to a good career :)

I became a makeup artist because i had become so adept at camouflage and covering acne to look good. That being said, its a hard job to do, to do lovely makeup for other people in a period when I am breaking out badly because everyone expects you to look PERFECT when you are a makeup artist!

Most people with acne, tend to descend in their career/education due to acne, however you took good advantage of it.

Successful at 22.
High five to you.

I wish you luck, that is a very tough task, and even worse a very expensive one that might not pay off in the end.

Spending time with family and friends is important. I love my family, I give them all my mental energy, because they rock!

I have also heard of stepping out of your comfort zone, but the comfort zone exists to bring comfort to ones self. I have many hobbies, I like to create music, paint, to work out. I have tried stepping out but I just stress and start to worry about my appearance again. It makes me unhappy.

I am not saying don't try new things in life, because that is foolish and makes you a closed world type of person. But I think when you find things that make you happy you should stick to them.

I think it will, it did for me Posted Image

I think the most important thing is to find a job your comfortable with, as well as enjoying the work. Just because your skin lets you down doesn't mean other aspects of life should too!

That's awesome! I recently saw this video were a girl used make up to transform her face from being acne covered to it being flawless. Have to say its a art form and clearly takes a lot of practice and skill Posted Image

Lol, Posted Image thanks. I can understand why this happens, a lot of careers depend on being social. This leads to a constant fear of being judged. I still have this fear, I just let my work do the talking and not my face.

I had acne since i was 10 years old. At first i really didn´t care much about my appearance, i was immature, i was a tomboy and i didn´t like makeup or anything like that. Nor i care if a boy fell in love with me. So back when i was a kid to a teenager acne really didn´t bother me at all, maybe it was because my friends and the rest of the people, really never said anything bad to my acne in front of me nor i heard anyone talking smack about my face either. When i hit about 16 years old i wasn´t the tomboy kid that i used to be before, i start it to change my appearance when i was about 15, i was more girly than ever, i start it to wear makeup, i start it to care if a guy like me or not so having acne at 16 when i totally changed my aspect, acne was really bothering me. I always want it to look good, so yes acne was starting to affect me. Which was kind of weird since most of my life guys have been in love with me even when i had acne and when i was a tomboy in the past.

So, i start it to get stress, i moved down to South America (Argentina) and in that country, they have the 4 climates, so...when summer comes, my acne would just explode and i had pimples all over my face. The good thing about this was that...when i used to walked down the street you would just get tire of seeing people with acne, so it wasn´t that bad after all, at least i didn´t feel so lonely. But then when i start it to live with my mom, nephew and my sister, my sister would just make some nasty comments about my skin which thanks to her, i got really depressed. She would just comment and say ´´Oh Nair your skin looks bad today´´ or when she start it dating a guy one time she told me ´´Nair today my boyfriend is coming to my house to see us, you might wanna do something about your skin...you don´t want to look like that in front of him´´. And my eyes start it watering and i really felt bad because it came from someone who is part of me, who is part of my family my very own sister !

i really didn´t care if it came from a stranger, but yeah to make this long story short, one time a guy told me if i want it to become a model even when i had acne in my face and i still have. So, being in the modeling industry is very tough to handle but it proved to me that if you have the looks, if you are humble and if you never give up it don´t matter if you have acne in your face, you can do whatever you want in this life. No one should stop you from your dreams.

and it´s very nice to read your story of how you achieve a career without really caring what´s in your face.

I love playing the guitar and attempting* to sing, but I'm not going to make a career out of it. Unless I'm really that good, which I'm not lol.

Talk about dealing with people and society...I'm going into law enforcement. I'll be on the street in 6-7 months.
