I probably should have posted this under the Persa-Gel 10 thread, but It's not really a review of persa-gel 10. I started using Persa-gel 10 for a couple of weeks and it really started working. After that I noticed my skin became very dry (even with consistent mosturizer!) so I stopped using persa-gel 10 for two days so my face would stop drying out. I continually washed my face for those two days, but when I got back on the persa-gel I noticed it stopped working. My face got a THOUSAND times worse and I noticed that my acne would be very inflammed/painful every time I wasn't wearing the persa-gel 10. I have a photo shoot coming up in a couple of weeks and I don't want to go if I have a bunch of painful acne on my face! Please help me. I am running out of solutions for my acne and I am not sure if I should quit persa-gel or not.
I have done extensive research on acne and have tried dieting, fasting (to remove all bad juju
.), Proactiv, Clearasil, Nuetrogena, Clean and Clear, Ivory Soap, and even Plain old store bought medicine! My parents refuse to take me to the dermatologist, (because our insurance doesn't cover it) and I am getting desperate! I know this doesn't leave room for a lot of suggestions but if you could comment below that would be amazing!

Persal-Gel stopped working for me too, and my skin was always irritated. I think Zapzyt 10% is better quality. Even though it's more drying, it doesn't give me the sunburned look that Persa-Gel did. I think the problem with Persa-Gel is that it can't absorb because it's so thick, and if you put moisturizer on top of it, it just causes irritation. Zapzyt is kind of gritty but at least it disappears on my skin.
Also, have you tried sulfur? It was my last resort and ended up being a miracle treatment for me. The AcneFree sulfur mask was the only one I could find in a store, but it works as a spot treatment. I think it's best for inflamed acne. I still need BP for whiteheads.

Don't use anything too harsh on your face right now. No hot water and no scrubs!
I really recommend getting Mario Badescu drying lotion OR Kate Somerville's EradiKate. Both are sulfur based spot treatments. Use raw organic honey as a mask once a day. Wear sunscreen and use one acne spot treatment, and one all over treatment. The rest of your products should be gentle and replenishing. Let us know.

Could I get the Mario Badescu in local stores? it sounds a bit pricy.

I think the directions say to use it 3 times a week for 10 minutes at a time, but I've used it overnight for as many days as I needed to clear up a breakout. I'd recommend using it as directed at first just to see how your skin reacts, then as an overnight spot treatment if it doesn't seem too drying. Make sure to use enough water with it so it doesn't flake off and so the blue beads can dissolve. I'd also recommend giving your skin a break if alternating between sulfur and BP, and never use them in the same day...that still makes my skin peel.
