Seriously? Of course I'm using a moisturizer. It wasn't a "what should I do" question, it was a "what can I expect" question.

The first few weeks are the most frustrating. You'll need to be patient. Just hang in there with it. Here is the usual "what to expect". http://www.acne.org/whattoexpect.html

I see you have some trouble reading. When you first introduce bp to skin, it generally results in dryness.

Yeah, but it doesn't say anything about how your skin should feel long term, just how it looks.

Anywho, to help answer your question, I've been using the regimen for about... five months or so. For me, adding jojoba oil into the mix REALLY helped get the moisture back into my skin. If you don't nourish that intense dryness while it's intensely dry, it'll never heal up all the way, and will prove to be extremely uncomfortable. My suggestion is go ahead and get your hands on some jojoba oil (extra virgin olive oil may also work, but I find it sits on the skin way too much) and be sure to exfoliate the dry flakes off your skin. Within about a week of intense moisturizing, you should see better texture in your skin.
Even now, if I don't moisturize enough, I get that same terribly dry flaky skin. But as long as you put the moisture back, your skin should be soft and supple!

For me, the first week was great! I was almost instantly clear. (My acne was never severe. I would say it was moderate, I would have some hormonal break outs ever month which were getting to be too much for me to handle and no other products were working)
Week 2-3. I wanted to quit. My face was so dry and flaky I felt like I was molting. I would joke about it, but it was actually really frustrating at times. I couldn't even wear makeup. Mind you, I started in the winter and it's very cold and dry so I'm sure that didn't help. But, I absolutely hated my skin. No matter how much moisturizer I used I was still flaking. ( I carried one of Dan's travel moisturizers in my purse and applied through out the day.) What helped, which I'm sure some might disagree with me? I slowed down on the regimen. I was never using a lot of product to begin with, but it may have been too much for my skin. ( I didn't even use as much as Dan recommends, but I'm a small girl with a small face. )
Towards the end of the third week when I was getting fed up with the dryness, I only used the "treatment" all over my face at night, and I used less than I had previously. In the morning I would wash and either only use the treatment as a spot treatment or not at all. I would still moisturize. (because my face was flaking off.) I only had to do this for maybe 4 days tops before my skin started to get back to normal. I slowly. SLOWLY started using the treatment normally again.
Now its been 2ish months and I have no dryness at all. You just have to fight through it unfortunately.
As for now, I do do one thing differently. Once my skin got clear, I started using Neutrogena's oil free moisturizer (combination skin) under my makeup instead of the moisturizer from the regimen. (I still use it at night) I only do this because the regimen moisturizer, although it's great, is pretty thick and doesn't quite work under makeup. It seemed to make my face feel goopy all day. Which I didn't particularly mind on days where I didn't need to wear makeup. But when I do wear makeup I use the Neutrogena moisturizer. Its not the best moisturizer in the world, but it works once you're beyond the flaky stage.
Hope that helps anyone who's in that "Annoyed, I hate my skin, is it ever going to get any better? I feel like a reptile" stage.

After some long time on it, I quitted (due to bleached clothes mainly) and broke out like crazy, and I am 26...
Trust me, the first month my skin was horrible : red, painful, stinging, dry. After 2 / 3 months, it was baby smooth. Well, when I shave it. Do not worry
