I got a horrible breakout of 4 or 5 cysts about 2 months ago, all around my chin and mouth area. I can feel two at all times as bumps on my skin (not very visible) but not the rest (though I suppose there's probably also a slight bump as well). The annoying thing is that a random cyst will always flare up every 2 or 3 weeks. In response, I apply neosporin or polysporin and a band-aid plaster and the cyst (or cysts) dies down within 2-5 days. While I am thankful that I am able to calm a cyst down, knowing that they will simply reappear is very frustrating. Is there anything I can do, besides getting them extracted or popping them myself (I know this is a bad idea, but I've done it before and while it does leave nasty PIH, it does seem to do the trick), to completely get rid of them? Thanks.

Are you on any prophylactic (preventative) treatments? You can't play whack-a-mole with acne, especially cysts.

If you've tried over the counter treatments (benzoyl peroxide as in Proactiv, salicylic acid in Murrad, etc.), it might be time to talk to your doctor/dermatologist about stronger treatment options to prevent scarring.

I currently have 3 of those nasty things on my chin. These I actually dont want to come to the surface cause it seems like it takes even longer for it to go away, so hoping they just disapear on their own. when they are painful and i mean PAINFUL. i think is when you have to worry and plan for the worst.
