Hey all-

so I've had cystic acne for about 5 or 6 months, only on one cheek. It's generally not painful, and I went to my derm for one that was painful and he injected it with cortisone and it went away within the day. I have a few other cysts that are basically painless lumps underneath my skin that I had him inject as well, and it didn't seem to infect them at all. He told me that anything I inject that is not inflamed, the cortisone basically won't help.

I have what I think is a new cyst on my cheek, and it's red and definitely a little raised but not painful at all. Would this count as inflamed? Would a cortisone shot help it? I am basically trying to avoid scarring as much as possible, so I'll get it injected it if could help, but otherwise it's a pain to find time to go see my derm.

sorry, I meant the cortisone didn't AFFECT the painless ones, not infect
