Week 13 (Day 94)

So not much has changed since last week. My breakout from last week is continuing to go away and i have a new whitehead uncomfortably on my neck. Hopefully this can go away soon cause people keep mistaking it as a hickey until they get closer and realize they should bite their tongue. I am approaching the end of month 3 and am meeting with my dermo on Friday for my next check up. I really dont want to go six months, but if itll be better for the long run, then I might as well have to.

Week 14 (Day 101)

100 days on Accutane! woooo definitely doesn't feel like its been a hundred days but at the same time I feel like Im only halfway done :/ My dermo wants me to stay on for another 3 months to ensure my acne to go away. Ohh well itll be worth it in the end. Anyways my acne took a sudden turn for the better and my entire face has been basically active free for over a week :D My neck still is recovering from some white head on the right side but they gradually going away. Other than that, acne free everywhere else: chest, back, shoulders, etc.

Week 15 (Day 108)

My face looks GREEEEEAAAT. This is definitely the best its looked ever since I started getting acne. I haven't had an active in over two weeks and my red spots from previous ones are fading away. Im finally looking like a normal human being. Hopefully I don't jinx myself and have a fat breakout ha ha ha i'd be really pissed. Other than that just a lot of dryness on the lips, nose, eyes, and face but thats nothing really new. However, something new that has appeared in the past week is a stye on my left eye. I don't know if this is accutane related but i'm guessing it formed from the dryness. Other than looking like I have a black eye, nothing else new to report.

Week 16 (Day 115)
@Novocastrian-Thanks for the support!

I almost completely jinxed myself last week. The morning after I posted my last update, I felt a new active approaching on the right side of my chin. I was afraid that other ones were going to pop up; fortunately they did not. So my face is basically 100% clear beside the active from last week that is still going away. Other than that, I still have some red spots that are fading away. I notice though that my face an neck are not as nearly as red as they used to be. That is very promising because I used to get a lot of shit for my permanent red face. Also, my stye has finally gone away. It took a solid 5 days, but its finally gone and now I don't look like I have a black eye.

*Update*

I went snowboarding yesterday and ignorantly didn't put sunscreen on. Today I woke up with burn blisters all over my face :'(. Does anybody now how I should treat this and/or how long it will take to go away?!?

OMG burn blisters? I just started accutane a couple of weeks ago and summer is quickly approaching. I might as well live outside in the summer. Always going to the water park and fishing and what not. Im worried about how I am going to react in the sun. When you normally go out in the sun and wear SPF what strength are you wearing? I have read 30 - 70 SPF

Sounds like the meds are doing awesome things to you, minus the sun blisters. I hope you continue to have success! Good Luck!

@Besty6165-Thanks for your support. Luckily the burn blisters only lasted for 2 days. After they were gone, I had to shed off all of the dead skin to the point of which my skin was raw. However, my skin is now progressively recovering and should be completely back to normal by the end of the weekend. I definitely learned my lesson. Your going to love the effectiveness of accutane, however you need to be careful with the sun. Make sure you apply a high SPF on before you go out and then reapply if you continue to stay outdoors. I didn't reapply for the entire day so I suffered the worst burn of my life. Accutane really makes you more sensitive to the sun so you have to be extra careful. Other than that, good luck and your going to love it!

Week 17 (Day 123)

Like I said above, my skin is returning back to normal. I definitely don't want to experience something that horrific again. However, the sunburn did benefit me one way. It killed all of the skin that had red spots from previous pimples. Probably not the healthiest way, but i'm red-spots free on my face so that a bonus. Other than that, my skin is continuing to look better and better each day. The results really do show in month 3 and especially month 4. I had a small whitehead come up last night, however it was gone by this morning. Hopefully, I don't jinx myself...again.

Week 18 (Day 129)

Officially entering month 5! My skin looks fantastic and I havent had a breakout in basically a month! My dermatologist says if I don't get another pimple by the end of this month, then she will take me of. However, I don't think this is the best idea since I won't have fully reached the accumulative dosage that is recommended for my weight. Anyways, as long as I maintain acne free, I could care less! Also, I got a bit burnt again Posted Image I went to the beach last Friday and lathered sunscreen all over my face and arms, but I forgot my feet, shoulders, and neck. Definitely not as bad as my face was, but burning is never fun. It makes me very relieved that I did it during the winter because of the lack of sunny days. Anyways, I should finish my course by summer so I'll be good to go!

Here's a picture timeline of my course so far:

Week 20 (Day 144)

Accutane+Sun=No bueno! I went to the beach on Sunday and loaded up on sunscreen. Unfortunately, i missed a couple spots on my neck and forehead so I got a bit burnt >:( I need to keep reminding myself that my skin is incredibly vulnerable in the sun and I NEED to remember to get every spot on my body and reapply as much as possible. Other than that, my skin looks pretty good. I dont remember the last time I had a breakout, but do continue to get tiny whiteheads that go away within 1-2 days. Only about 6 more weeks and I should be done with Accutane forever :D hopefully (knock on wood). The summer is going to be glorious with consistently clear skin!

Week 22 (Day 159)

My skin looks pretty incredible today, especially after looking at pictures of my skin from previous months. Accutane has seriously been a blessing and not only changed the way I look, but also the way I feel about myself. I never have to be scared to look in a mirror again or be self-conscious when talking to someone face to face. I still cant believe the results and if I could go back and do it again I'd do it in an instant. Acne literally dominated the first half of my freshman year in college and it absolutely sucked. I looked in the mirror every morning and would pray to god that my acne would go away. I would avoid seeing and talking to people and I hated it. Im grateful that I have gotten so much out of the product and my only regrets is not talking it earlier in my life.

I have my post month 5 checkup today and am awaiting to see if I have another month or not. I feel like I should stay on until 6 months are up just to make sure that everything is to perfection. Other than that, not much else to report. Skin is looking great and hopefully it stays like that. Below is a post month 5 pic..

Week 23 (Day 166)

4 MORE WEEKS TIL I'M DONE! I CAN'T WAIT!! My dermo finally gave me the final verdict that this was my last month and I won't need another up until September Posted Image. This means...no more blood tests! wooooo! The day I get off accutane will be one for the books. My skin is currently fantastic. I haven't had a breakout in months and the only pimples I get are smaller than dimes and go away within a day or 2. My red spot on my shoulders are like red polka and I hardly even notice them anymore. The only way for my face to reach perfection is for all of the red spots to go away and my face needs to go back to its natural color. It definitely isn't nearly as red as it used to be but theres still a color distinction between my face/neck and body. Hopefully that fades away after I'm done with my course. Lastly, I have finally experienced the last body part to get dry--my eyes. Over the past 5 months, I have experienced dry lips, nose, ears, face, neck, arms, even hands and now I currently have dry eyes. Not too bad, but enough to be noticed. Only 4 more weeks and everything will be over and I will be back to normal in the meantime!

I hope you'll check in from time to time after you finish your course and report when all the side effects do go away. I wish you the best :)

@BeautifulDisasters- Thanks you so much for your support! I hope the same success for you and the rest of your course and remember it only gets better from here on out.

Week 25 (Day 180)

There is honestly not too much to report. My skin looks great and I am awaiting the day that I take my last pill. The red spots on my face from previous pimples are gradually going away. My skin is still a bit dry and red, but I feel like its from the sun and lack of moisturizer that I have been using. I'm almost out of my La Mer moisturizer and its perfect timing. I recommend my life to anyone on Accutane looking for the best moisturizer out there. My skin used to crack and peel from being so dry and using mediocre moisturizers, but once I starting using La Mer I never had to experience that again. It might be a bit pricey, but its truly worth every penny!
