When To Remove Make-Up

Maybe you need to search out for a new concealer/foundation that is more breathable/comfortable for your skin. My skin would dry to bits if I removed and washed that many times. It would also drive me bonkers. When I do use makeup I usually have it on 14-16 hrs. That is the time line of my work and after hours activities with makeup. I come home and wash it off. I very rarely wash my face in the am-a splash of water and swipe of toner. That's it!
Mineral makeup for myself has been the way to go for breathable coverage. It's very quick to apply with coverage that you can control.

Anyway, to the OP, if your skin feels dry when you wash it, maybe you can try removing the makeup with some kind of oil. I use extra virgin olive oil followed by a cleanser. But I think if you use EVOO the first time and don't rinse it off (meaning just gently wipe it off with a soft cloth) until you re-apply the makeup it would help. The oil would have time to absorb and moisturize your skin before washing it completely off before you re-apply makeup. Just an idea. However, it is ideal to not wash your face too often - hope you find something that works!

I may try using oil to just remove my foundation, maybe jojoba oil. It just freaks me out to put oil on my face I guess.

Have you ever tried CeraVe as face wash? That stuff is brilliant for the price!

I've never seen CeraVe is that sold in drugstores? I'm pretty cool with Cetaphil.

Thanks! Awesome info. I thought Everyday Minerals' ingredients were just about the same as Hello Minerals! But I could be wrong (I'm too lazy to look it up right now

Gemmy, I know you're a big fan of Hello Minerals as I've seen you recommend several times. I just want to say to others who are still looking for their perfect mineral makeup that there are probably several small companies now that offer practically the same products (given that their claims and posted ingredients are truthful).
For instance, I've been using Meow Cosmetics since last summer. The last time I ordered from them was probably in the beginning of the year and I'm still using the same two jars - depending on my color. I'm only half way through one of them and have barely made a "dent" in the other and I wear makeup on a regular basis. Anyway, to my point... I've looked at both Hello and Meow and this is what I noticed:
- Both use the same ingredients
- Hello: $15 for 9 grams
- Meow: $24 for 22-30 grams
- Hello has 14 colors available
- Meow has 85 colors available
I've had only good experience with Meow products but I do use liquid foundation, too, which obviously affects the look and wear.
For those in the UK (maybe they ship elsewhere, not sure), I've heard good things about Lily Lolo, too. Again, same ingredients.

Assuming that makeup does clog your pores. If it's worn responsibly, and if your skin has no adverse reaction to that specific makeup, it won't cause acne.
Not to mention over-washing can lead to dryness and dryness can lead to your skin producing more oil to compensate for moisture loss. Experimenting, as frustrating as it can be, is key.

I ordered the sample kit back in 2010 I think or last year can't remember but it broke me out a bit :S my skin is pretty intolerant so I guess something that it had just irritated my skin and have me more acne. Maybe the bismuth something they say that triggers acne for some .

My skin hasn't been irritated from this, and is actually quite clear right now. I figure it's best to let skin "breathe" when you know you're not going to be seeing anyone. Why wear makeup when you're by yourself for a few hours? plus, it's really relaxing for me to not wear makeup for a bit during the day. And if I'm taking a nap etc. I definitely don't want to sleep with makeup on.
So basically, I don't think that's bad at all. Like I said, best to let your skin breathe for a bit.
