Hi. I'm new to the site. I have major acne blemishes, and it's already ruined my self-esteem, so it can't be any worse to post a photo of my face. I don't know exactly what my skin tone is so that I could choose a proper color of foundation for my skin. I was wondering if any of you lovely people could help me out. I have provided a photo of my face. I blocked out my eyes and mouth because I'm really ugly, and not comfortable with people seeing my entire face or identifying who I am. But, if any of you guys could tell me what my skin type is, I would be very thankful. I was also wondering if you guys could tell me a specific brand of makeup that would be good for my skin? I have VERY dry skin and I mean, so dry, that no amount of moisturizer or exfoliating helps. I'm still looking around for products for my troublesome skin, but suggestions are appreciated. I like the higher-end products, just because I find them to be more quality. Thanks to everyone that replies.

Here's the photo. Don't be too harsh. I look disgusting, I know. ):

your clearly some variation of fair skinned. if i were u, i'd start with the lightest shade available and go from there. and you can always mix shades if you find you're in between. i like mineral makeup myself but if you need to get your dryness under control if you want any makeup to go on nicely. i recently started using neutrogena moisturizer for sensitive skin (no spf). dry skin isn't healthy!

Hi! Thanks for replying back. It means a lot, and you have definitely helped me a lot. Fair. Would that mean I have more of a cool skin tone? I'm not entirely sure how it works. Thanks in advance.

Awe, thank you, but I feel like I am. It's just if my skin went back to being clear again, I would feel more confident with myself.

it's hard to say. you don't look pinkish in that picture, so i guess you could say you're a cool fair tone. it's really best to go to one of those high end makeup stores like MAC or sephora and they can help you figure out your shade. then you can buy makeup from them or just go somewhere else with that knowledge.

if you don't want to bother with human beings (who does?) you can always order samples from an online store. i've heard good things about faerie organic minerals and hello minerals. i believe faerie organic minerals has a $5.00 sample pack where you can choose your basic tone (fair, tan, dark) and they will give you several shades in your range to try. then you can figure out your shade and buy more.

My boyfriend thinks I have more of a yellow undertone, but I'm not sure. My skin is pretty pale though. I was looking at Bare Minerals/Escentuals different foundations and I was having a hard time deciding which one would be a match. Would you say that this http://www.bareescen..._SUB_FOUNDATION would be a matching color to my skin? It's hard to figure it out. I've been wanting to go to stores like those, but the problem is the closest store for Mac and Sephora is about 45 minutes away. Right now, I don't have a car. I got my license, just not a car. Plus I'm very shy with other people seeing me without makeup. I'll try the online sample thing.

maybe it's just the light or the camera quality but you look even paler than that. from the one pic of you and what is available on the site, i'd go with the third one (golden fair/luminous.) that one says it's for fair skin and yellow/olive undertones, if you trust your boyfriend's judgement. & yeah those top brands bare escentuals and bare minerals don't offer the samples as far as i know and i've heard from a lot of people they aggravate sensitive skin. i've been using sheercover mineral makeup myself since before i even had acne with no problems... whenever i run out i intend to go with faerie minerals or hello minerals bc they're well reviewed on this site and they have samples.

plus if you can't get an exact match, i think it's better to go lighter than darker. most people have lighter skin on their face than the rest of their body naturally.

just some advice I would stay far far away from mac there products are not acne prone skin friendly. Yes the covearge they give you its great but not worth it trust me. I like sephora or you can try clinique. my skin color is kinda like yours I am yellow side but kinda of white/ tan. I Bought cover fx mineral make up I like it it covers my red marks pretty well. I still have to see how my skin reacts to it. I have oily skin so I hate it Bare minerals maybe you will like it since your skin is on the dryer side. Try the matte formula its better than the orignal if you decide to get BE. good luck :)

hey, imma guy and just started wearing a little foundation to help conceal my dark marks.

as for skin tone, ur gonna have to go to the makeup section and pick a shade that matches u best. how r we suppose to kno

im more on the cheap side, so i use revlon colorstay liquid foundation ($10-13). theres a formula for oily and dry skin. i mix it with my moisturizer and it looks more natural, if i put it on after my moisturizer u can tell i have makeup on.

u want something expensive so try Make up Forever or MAC, those r the main ones i hear girls talking about.

as to why ur skin is so dry, maybe ur using something irritating. whats ur regimen?

PS. ur skin is not that bad so cheer up. (u should see me)

First, please stop saying your ugly. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change. It works both ways. Good or Bad. Repeat for good thoughts and I'm sending them your way.
You look fair with a hint of pink. Which would make you cool. However, your neck and ears most definitely show signs of yellow which is represented as warm. I would recommend any shade with a hint of yellow in the base to counteract the pink/red and to match with your neck. Which is best demonstrated in a shade of Neutral. I myself have always mixed two shades to find my perfect complexion shade. Honestly, no one person has an exact perfect shade that fits into one category. We all have some warmth in our coloring shade; which why it is is wise to add some yellow into the mix.
As for foundation I use Mineral Makeup as well. I prefer the less is more approach when it comes to adding more to my skin. Mineral Makeup also allows for mixing and tweaking the shade for your preference. I use Hello Minerals Mineral Makeup and I am always very satisfied with coverage and the makeups wear/performance.
Regarding your dry skin- I have extremely dry, flaky, skin and I still manage to wear mineral makeup with no problems. My cocktail for application is to apply an oil-free lotion prior to application of makeup. Faithfully take your makeup off at the end of your day and always, always, apply a lotion/cream moisturizer before bedtime. I hope this info helps you out and positive thoughts!
